This needs to address the history of these twigs, archaeological artifacts of their usage, etc. It only focuses on the contemporary, which is not enough. 76.66.192.49 (talk) 14:31, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. I'm working on a Western screenplay set in 1890, and am trying to be as historically accurate as possible. The thought occurred to have the characters using chew sticks (though the audience might find it distracting). More information would be useful.
