Ted Wilson (1943-2013) → Ted Wilson (ice skating) – More typical disambiguation format. — BarrelProof (talk) 08:30, 18 July 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Bensci54 (talk) 16:33, 25 July 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. – robertsky (talk) 03:32, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- Support Ted Wilson (1943-2013) → Ted Wilson (figure skater), which appears to be the standard parenthetical qualifier, even while acknowledging that subject subsequently became a trainer and well-known ice rink manager. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 03:28, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Move to Ted Wilson (figure skater) as this is the standard disambiguator. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:08, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Move to Ted Wilson (ice skating) per nom. Better known as an advocate, manager and trainer than a skater. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:46, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- Relisting comment: would like additional opinions between (figure skater) and (ice skating) - !votes are currently 50:50 Bensci54 (talk) 16:33, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Move to Ted Wilson (ice skater) or Ted Wilson (figure skater) first choice and then second choice -- "skating" seems to me to be the wrong word vs. "skater", but for the first word I don't think it matters all that much between ice and figure, either would be fine. Between the two, "ice" seems slightly broader than "figure". ⇒SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 18:16, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Move to Ted Wilson (figure skater). WP:NCSP guides us to disambiguate either by the name of the sport or by the name of the athlete's role within the sport, but further instructs us to be consistent with our DABs within a single sport. Browsing the subcategories of Category:Figure skaters shows that "figure skater" is by far the dominant DAB for figure skaters, so NCSP and WP:CONSISTENT would guide us to use it here too. - He seems more notable as a manager rather than as a skater. That's why I suggested "skating" rather than "skater". — BarrelProof (talk) 00:34, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- Comment I note that the article has been notability tagged since last year, and may be a good candidate for WP:AFD. Essentially orphaned, receives almost no traffic. 162 etc. (talk) 00:42, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- Move to Ted Wilson (figure skater) makes sense to me, since most figure skaters use 'figure skater' in their titles. Waqar💬 19:16, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Closer's comment: previously closed as "Moved to Ted Wilson (figure skater)" due to my perception of a weak consensus for that disambiguation, re-opened at BarrelProof's request to allow for further discussion. Quadrantal (talk) 21:40, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- The reason I asked for further discussion was to get more clarity on the question of whether it should be "ice skating" or "figure skater". Another possibility would be "figure skating". I don't think it's necessary to revert the move that already took place while the discussion continues, since it's clear that the "figure skater" title is better than the old one with "1943-2013". — BarrelProof (talk) 22:11, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, editor BarrelProof, I moved the page back (well, to the correct MOS:DATERANGE dab with endash rather than a hyphen) before I saw your post. The RMCD bot went bonkers over the Ted Wilson (1943-2013) redirect. This request landed in the malformed bin. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 16:30, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- No worries. It was that MOS-violating hyphen that led me bonkers about this article in the first place. — BarrelProof (talk) 18:03, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- That's hilarious. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 18:26, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
