Talk:Teatro Massimo

Latest comment: 4 years ago by AccioFelicis

Surely it isn't right that the Teatro Massimo is the biggest in Italy? La Scala has nearly double the audience size. Or are we just talking about the external building, which is undoubtedly very massive. At the very least, this needs a reference. Xgretsch (talk) 08:07, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I also was wondering about it; I checked the homepage of the theatre; there it is stated, that "Il teatro Massimo all’epoca della sua inaugurazione era con i suoi 7730 metri quadrati di area il terzo teatro più grande d’Europa, secondo solo alle Opere di Parigi e Vienna" http://www.teatromassimo.it/il-teatro/storia.html - i.e. it was - at the time of its inauguration - the 3rd biggest in Europe with its 7730 square metres (after Paris and Vienna), so it has nothing to do with the capacity of the auditorium.
