Discussion: Title and common name of the topic edit

What is the WP:COMMONNAME of this topic? Should the current draft be moved to Team Trees or TeamTrees?
Names in quotation marks are title options, names in brackets are common name options.

Option A: "Team Trees" (Team Trees) – Supposed name of the event when the hashtag isn't used. There are examples like Black Lives Matter to #BlackLivesMatter and the Me Too movement to #MeToo.
Option B1: "TeamTrees" (TeamTrees) – Name used in official social media accounts of the event: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit.
Option B2: "TeamTrees" (#TeamTrees) – Trending hashtag on various social media. The number sign isn't allowed due to technical restrictions, so #TeamTrees share the same title with TeamTrees.

This did not start in May edit

Does anyone know how that got there? MrBeast announced the campaign on Oct 25, 2019. EnglandUser (talk) 14:44, 9 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hey @EnglandUser:, the event started in October 2019, but the initiative for the event started in May 2019. It was gotten from here. I did a few tweaks to the article, you can check my edit here. Anyways, thanks for the edits! Melofors (talk) 19:48, 9 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism edit

This article is vandalized several times every day, and it's getting really annoying to constantly revert. Could we have it protected and have only auto-confirmed editors edit it? -Melofors (talk) 20:04, 20 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Donation Count edit

Seeing as how the article is locked, I wanted to propose an additional section to the article. Can we add "As of 'x date', there are 'x' donations/trees planted"? Another suggestion would be to have a chart that showed a week by week donation count. I know that when it first started a lot of donations were made and they got up to 12-ish million pretty fast. But this past month has been pretty slow, and I'm sure they won't be able to raise another 4 million by the end of December, but it would be interesting to see the analytics of the donations made over the course of the past few months.

Thanks - Anonymous user 12.1.19 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.99.7.131 (talk) 21:45, 1 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Done! I added a progress section along with daily progress counts. Melofors 22:21, 4 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

edit

I found the official logo from the website (https://teamtrees.org/images/logo-teamtrees-full.svg). I think this logo should replace the current logo used in the infobox. This is the official logo used on the website. Melofors 01:28, 4 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sections that read like marketing copy edit

"Top donations", "Progress" - how are these sections encyclopedia material? Particularly the second, which is entirely primary-sourced. And cataloguing your press clippings collection - rather than using your coverage as references - is only ever an attempt to puff up the topic's apparent importance, and a sure-fire way to make the article on you look like an advertisement. If the initiative is genuinely noteworthy, as the sources would suggest, it wouldn't need this - David Gerard (talk) 16:46, 12 December 2019 (UTC)]Reply

@David Gerard: Hey, there. Despite, being the creator of both sections, I'm starting to see the error in my ways. I in no way intended to make this read like an advertisement. I may have to do something about the Progress section or just get rid of it. I don't see anything wrong with the Top donations section, however. It includes an organized list of the event's top donors, each with significant coverage. What do you think should be done about the Progress section? Melofors 18:47, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
I'd cut the "progress" section entirely - it's something for the organisation's own fundraising page, not for its Wikipedia article. The "top donors" bit doesn't need to precis who each one is - this reads like marketing to donors - similar Wikipedia lists of notable people who've been linked to an article's topic just link the notable person's article. The paragraph just listing press clippings needs to go - if those sources are useful as references, use them as references - David Gerard (talk) 07:34, 13 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Such a shame that I agree. The progress section, which looks amazing, thanks Melofors, just doesn't hold up to reliability standards. I just don't think that there are any secondary sources that can verify the donation amount independently (not through citing the team trees website). I also agree that the notes section has become a marketing section, and that relevant information linked to team trees can be embedded throughout if necessary. I think I have probably been less objective than I would have liked when editing (no I don't work for ADF, lol), so sorry if I was stubborn. I would like to see if there methods to save the sections, or re-distribute them, before they are deleted though. Pabsoluterince (talk) 16:06, 14 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
