Wikipedia is not a means of self-promotion. Wikipedia articles cover notable topics—those that have gained significant and enduring notice by the world at large. This page is not suitable for an encyclopedia as this team has only won a competition; this does not meet Wikipedia's guidelines for notability. If and when the technology described in this article can be shown to have impacted the real world, it may cross the threshold of notability. In the mean time, a single line on the Imagine Cup page is most appropriate, if and only if third-place winners are universally included there. I would appreciate advice on how to formally re-nominate this page for deletion; I'm not aware of how to do so. --RobertStar20 (talk) 00:07, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

- Well, the meaning of the word "promotion" is somewhat subjective, but I can comment on "self-". Your IP hails from the IceHouse, which offered you (Team OneBeep) a 3 month business incubation package. Seriously, if you want to pretend to be anonymous, do it from your own house at the very least. You've only got three months at the IceHouse, shouldn't you be hitting up sponsors, contacting the OLPC organisation, discovering that they probably already found a solution to your "problem" years ago, etc? And how bragging about your "achievements" counts as raising awareness eludes me. Winning a student competition is not notable, and this shameless self-promotion is just shockingly poor form. If you want to save the world, go and save the world. If you come even close to succeeding, others will write this page for you. How about you find some other project, run by anyone but you, and write a wikipedia article on that. This will allow you to make a contribution with a neutral point of view, as opposed to this vain, pathetic pretension. Finally, deleting other people's comments (as opposed to just replying) is obviously considered very poor form, please refrain from doing so. RobertStar20 (talk) 09:12, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Although the fact that this page has lasted this long is immensely frustrating, and the behaviour of deleting other people's comments is absolutely infuriating, I shouldn't have sunk to the level of a personal attack.
