POV Tag removal edit

After reading the article and the talk section, I do not find any reason for the POV tag to remain. The article mentions several competing theories about the identity of the ToR and none of them seems to be given undue weight. 49.205.139.212 (talk) 09:13, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Another theory edit

Jesus Christ should be a theory, right? 174.4.163.53 (talk) 14:55, 8 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

The Teacher in question lived over 200 years BC (before Christ). WikiEditorial101 (talk) 20:41, 27 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Missing High Priest / Original Jesus edit

Marked as ambiguous. The link to "Jesus" is to Jesus of Nazareth, but the sentence refers to another person of the same name 150 years earlier. I read this sentence many times over and I'm not quite sure what is being said: is the intent that the missing high priest was this earlier Jesus figure? I'm not a subject matter expert, just a reader not understanding the wording and hyperlinking. Rob Burbidge (talk) 14:24, 25 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

He was trying to say that there was a priest who lived a few hundred years before Jesus (Teacher of Righteousness) who was slain (murdered) by Johnatan, who then illegally usurped the High Priesthood who could be compared to Jesus, who was a righteous one slain by unrighteous competitors (in His case the Pharisees); however, this describes many prophets who were slain for preaching unpopular motifs of reform, so in that broader context the comparison is made null by irrelevancy. After reviewing the source, I’ve clarified the statement, though I elect that by consensus it be removed entirely, as it’s wild speculation at best, and at worst not noteworthy at all. CD edit

References 1 and 2 mention a source it calls "CD". What is that? Editor2020 (talk) 23:54, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
