Attacks on the Pope

I'm not sure this is notable, but Gold has been strongly criticised for an attack she made against Pope Benedict XVI, with some commentators calling it yellow journalism and naked bigotry. [1][2][3] ADM (talk) 21:56, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Jewish

A anon keeps trying to remove the fact that Gold is Jewish in the article, without giving a reason. This is despite the fact that in an article for The Guardian, Gold herself says "and I - a Jewish princess - am glad".[4] - Yorkshirian (talk) 09:08, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

I am Tanya Gold and I am removing the reference to my being Jewish, which is continually being re-inserted by Yorkshirian (which is an anonymous name - why don't you use your real name?) I do this because I consider its insertion, straight after the anti-Catholic piece, as hostile and anti-Semitic - you were making a point, weren't you? You have stated in a Guardian article yourself that you are Jewish.[5] This is a biography and thus such biographical information, referenced at that, belongs in the article. It is neither pro-nor-anti to state the simple fact of your religion. It is referenced, biographical information. The real question is why are you trying to remove it from the article? And please don't chat me up. Take a look at the articles on other journalists, for instance Damian Thompson, it mentionns that he is Catholic, or Giles Coren it mentions that he is Jewish. Yorkshirian, you added "Judaism", which you infer from the citation, which is not completely synonymous with describing someone as Jewish. You do not allow for the possibility that Tanya Gold is secular or atheist, which is her business unless she chooses to write about it. Philip Cross (talk) 19:17, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

So you're saying its on an ethnic basis? Well the only source we have to go by is her writing about being a "Jewish princess" in the public domain. This seems to be quite a good reference. Its a referenced piece of biographical information, sourced by the Guardian. Thats all we need to know here. I'm not making a fuss, I just added it, the now blocked user tried to make a fuss by blanking it (without presenting a rationale), then trying to blank the entire article. It is irrelevant that Gold is Jewish, and the unpleasant tone adopted by 'Yorshirean' - claiming rather pitifully that Gold is trying to chat him up, in response to a polite request to reveal his name - suggests to me he is motivated by soemthing rather ugly. Gold has been subject to a large amount of anti-Semitic abuse on the web, and Yorskshirean seems to be somebody who sees her and wants to insert the word "Jew." • OK, some points here. To the IP 86.176.199.51 who claims to be Tanya Gold: if you are Tanya Gold, you should be aware of Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Help, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Autobiography. Basically, when editing your own article, you should be aware of potential conflicts of interest and that you can't decide what goes in or stays out on the basis of what you want. User:Yorkshirian was right: if it's a correct, citable fact from a reliable source, then it can go in.
• To the IP 86.176.199.51: There is no necessity for either IPs or for registered users to reveal their real name if they choose not to, and such a decision should not imply anything negative about their motives. People want anonymity for all sorts of reasons.

Why the proposal to delete?

What is a fatphobe?

The first sentence in this article reads (at this time) Tanya Gold (born 31 December 1973 in Merton, Surrey[1]) is an English journalist and fatphobe.

What is a fatphobe, and is being such a thing part of the reason she is notable?

It was vandalism. Gold wrote a Graun opinion piece about a fat mannequin at the London Nike store which some SJWs on Twitter found offensive. --Ef80 (talk) 20:17, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

Oxford

The article refers to a Graun article in which Gold moans about how awful Oxford University is. Is this really WP:NOTABLE? She is a contrarian who specialises in provocative opinion pieces. The referenced article is pretty typical of her writing and doesn't stand out in any way - in fact, she has written much more provocative and (to some) offensive stuff on a wide range of subjects. --Ef80 (talk) 20:17, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

Notability in question

Seems here that aside from Gold's published works, there is no notable content. Works produced by the subject, or those with a strong connection to them, are unlikely to be strong evidence of notability. See WP:GNG.PerpetuityGrat (talk) 14:09, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
