? The 20 February 2004 version said Tangshan 唐山 is a Chinese euphenism for China. – I suppose that's what the current hatnote is about – but by December 2005 a basic article was there. Wbm1058 (talk) 12:38, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

some things are missing.

maybe people should foucus on more important things like, for example, the POPULATION, the AREA, and other IMPORTANT STATISTICS--72.139.114.155 01:17, 13 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what they mean by "tourist attraction". I have been living in Tangshan for about four months now, and althoug I am very happy in this pleasant city, I can't call it a "tourist attraction" by any definition. Does he mean a tourist attraction for Chinese or Foreigners? If he means foreigners, then I feel compelled to share with him that, after living here for four months, I have see only two people who may in fact have been foreign tourists, and I only saw them because I was in a very expensive and western-style hotel. I have only seen about three Western foreigners since I have been living here, and they were all English teachers like me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.223.17.38 (talk) 08:09, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

there were no humans 4 mill years ago in china, maybe 2 mill in Africa and there was no source for the statement!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.112.158.185 (talk) 05:22, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Would you believe 4 thousand? Still seems like an unsourced guess. Wbm1058 (talk) 12:22, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Technical issues with the hatnote

edit

I see that Chinese Wikipedia handles hatnotes differently, as it does not italicize them. See zh:唐山市.

This became an issue here when the hatnote was standardized to use {{redirect}} by an edit to template-ify it on 11 November 2012. Because ''唐山'' did not redirect to this article, it was flagged by Category:Missing redirects. Some editors, including myself on 29 June 2013, attempted to fix this, but were reverted per WP:MOS-ZH (see WP:NOCHINESEITALICS). Lacking a solution, I let this article remain in that category for months.

But now I have found a work-around: I just created the redirect ''唐山'' and that seems to have solved it. – Wbm1058 (talk) 14:18, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
