Photo to use edit

Hi Helper201: I changed the photo from Tamsin Omond (left) - 2011 - Railway Adventure (pic 8) (cropped).jpg to Tamsin Omond (centre) - 2009 (cropped).jpg because whilst it's slightly older (from 2009 instead of 2011), it is much better lit and it's much easier to see Omond's face. I think it's also a better photo in general better suited to an encyclopedia. I hope that their new level of profile means we can have a better and up-to-date photo of them but of what's available on the Commons, I think the 2009 image is the one to go for! Hi Ralbegen, I personally think the 2011 photo is better and its of course more recent. I like that it’s more of a full body shot and there's no one else in the photo. I have uploaded all the good quality photos of them I could find available on Flickr to Wikimedia Commons that had the appropriate copyright to upload. If you could find and upload more recent images then we could use them here. Maybe try asking them directly, such as via social media (I don't use it myself)? Hopefully they could provide you with a good quality and more recent photo and permission to upload it; perhaps one as part of their current election campaign. Thanks for your work getting photos of them from Flickr! I think a 3:4 head-and-shoulders portrait is usually the right choice for a biographical article's main subject so for that and the lighting reasons cited above I'm afraid I'm not convinced; but I'm happy to leave the status quo until we have an up-to-date image or until more editors participate to form a winder consensus. I don't think I'll be able to reach out to Omond to seek a better image but often election candidates' teams seem to put suitable photos on the Commons before too long! They? edit

This is a singular person. Can we not stick to the basic rules of grammar? Rustygecko (talk) 18:19, 1 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
