I have spoken with a representative of Talisman Energy, and he will be providing me with material to counter some of the allegations and innuendoes that they feel appear in this article. The result will be a more balanced article that provides both sides of the story. In the meantime, I ask all of the contributors to please source their materials on this article. Thank you. Is anything going to happen with this, or can we remove the NPOV header? - SimonP 15:22, 19 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Should it be mentioned that the federal liberal government sent a committee to investigate the alleged wrongdoings in Sudan, with the intent of forcing the company out of the country, but they returned with nothing but praise for the effort talisman was putting into maintaining human rights and standards of living in the Sudan? Or how the lawsuit against them by the church group was dismissed in canadian court? Would this add to the nutrality and factuality of the article? On a side note,is it a coincidence that the darfur massacre (genocide?) only happened after the canadian oil company pulled out of the country? heckuva coincidence. Certainly, do you have a reference for it? TastyCakes (talk) 17:13, 3 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Does anyone have a source for that other than the Colbert Report? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.246.134.55 (talk) 01:44, 19 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

page layout edit

I changed the page layout a bit, I moved the info on Asian acquisitions up to the history section bc it was in the Sudan section before. I also changed the Sudan section to a two= section, although it is part of the companies history, I felt it was notable enough to stand by itself. Just my pov on the layout.DerickDiamond (talk) 21:14, 4 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Repsol edit

It's been bought by Repsol on 12th december, the operation is valued in $8.3kM or €6.67kM. --82.196.41.196 (talk) 12:03, 16 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

I've added more information regarding Repsol's purchase. Although Talisman is a Canadian energy company (or was, I suppose), I've provided US$ iinformation instead of CAN$ as the sources indicate the deal was negotiated in US dollars. Given the gyrations in the foreign currency market, particularly the recent collapse in value of the Canadian dollar relative to the American dollar, I believe it's more appropriate to provide US figures.
