I am interested in more information about the 'Talim' family. I would request you to contact me, in case you have any kind of information related to the Talim family.

what is this

this article looks to be an advertisement or an inquiry. if there are no objections i am going to switch the Soul Calibur character Talim to this spot and this spot to Talim (family) or something. i bet 99% of the people who search Tali are not looking for the family. correct me if i'm wrong. -- Bubbachuck 10:14, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Picture

Why was her picture removed?

Source problems, I'll see if I can do something about it

Pronounce Talim's name

For Talim's name, the "A" and "I" are both short vowels. --PJ Pete

ie it's not Tay-lim or Tah-leem. Leemorrison 12:55, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Tah-Lim, right? Gabriel Texidor 21:22, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Water Mill Valley.jpg

Image:Water Mill Valley.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Confirmed for Soul Calibur IV?

I'm wondering, has she at all been confirmed to return in the sequel?202.69.180.155 (talk) 11:50, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Nope, as of yet she is not, one of only three main characters from SC3 not yet confirmed, the others being Rock and Olcadan.

Yes she has now been confirmed as a returning character for Soulcalibur IV last week around Wednesday.Blueknightex (talk) 13:37, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Trivia Section

No offence to whoever wrote that, but it badly needs rewritten, I don't even understand what it's supposed to say.WinterSnowblind (talk) 18:28, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello WinterSnowblind I'm the one who wrote the Trivia. Sorry for my bad writing. I have placed a new entry point. It tells us that Talim's nationality was actually never mentioned in the game but lots of people know that she is Filipina because of the name of her moves. Doesn't that sound fair and true? The game doens't officially mention that she is Filipina unless "someone" in Wikipedia can provide a link that tells us that she is from Philippines like an interview with the creator of Talim alright? but for now do no delete my point unless that specific link or source is provided.Blueknightex (talk) 13:35, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Mines32 please do not remove my trivia point #2 alright? Blueknightex (talk) 01:26, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

'My Trivia Point'?? Trivia sections are not meant to be in Wikipedia articles, they exist only as a temporary solution, thus I deleted and intergrated the Trivia section. Leemorrison (talk) 02:06, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Gameplay

Okay, this is pretty much just like the old character analysis section from before. I'm removing these for the same reason people from before deleted the character analysis section. If you want to find out why, check out Taki's and Kilik's talk pages. If people want a strategy guide, they should go to fansites. Mythmonster2 (talk) 06:31, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Spanish Empire

If everyone here considers her to be Filipino then her birthplace should be listed as the Village of the Wind Deity, Spanish Empire (present-day Philippines) as the Philippines was a part of the Spanish Empire at the time of Talim's birth. The same sort of thing was done for Sophitia, being born in Greece which was a part of the Ottoman Empire at the time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ninquelótë (talkcontribs) 21:12, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

It is listed as that in her official bios and, though I don't know that much about the country's history anymore, I think the Philippines wasn't officially a Spanish colony until in the late 16th century.--Mgbenz (talk) 14:35, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Doesn't her official bio list her birthplace as Southeast Asia and not the Philippines specifically? The Philippines became a Spanish possession in 1565 and Talim was born in 1576. Ninquelótë (talk) 19:18, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Checking my player's guide for IV, it just says "Village of the Wind Deity, Southeast Asia". If everyone's up for it, it could be changed for that with Philippines wikilinked to Southeast Asia.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 19:25, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. Ninquelótë (talk) 19:39, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Yes, calling me a son of a bitch in your native tongue really seemed very mature and got your point across. Totally.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 11:14, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Conception and history... and design?

I was checking that section that, while I find really well done (Congratulations Kung Fu Man, you really did a great job), but I kinda wondered... why is there a "design" section down there requesting for more information? The two paragraphs up there already cover the design, the word itself is used pretty much. So, wouldn't it be better to just rename the section "Concept and design" and leave it as that? --Alexlayer (talk) 20:37, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Well examples might help: Necrid#Design and Poison (Final Fight)#Designs. It's more or less used to discuss the character's direct appearance and evolution as such, and the designer notes/reasons behind them if possible. I'd have something in there now, but bouncing between each of the articles atm >.<'--Kung Fu Man (talk) 21:10, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Information

We seriously need more information. The "in games" bit for Talim is slightly too detailed and seems to be focused on what happened in only one game. There is no information about her role in Soul Calibur IV. Can someone go and put in that information and summarize what we already have? (I don't have any knowledge of the Soul games except for III and IV, so I can't do it myself.) Swiftink (talk) 17:36, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Swiftink

Hm, honestly not too worried about that yet as I am her needing more reception information. She's very popular especially with the Filipinos (about on par as Blanka and Eddy Gordo are to Brazilians), so there should be a source to cover that. All the in games sections across the articles with the exception of Necrid's and Astaroth's are in pretty bad shape, so to counter someone tries to axe these current articles on those we can stress we're focusing first on improving their real world relevance and then tackling the rest. What do you think?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 17:41, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
What might lend a hand with what you mentioned though is just focus on the SC3 and SC4 aspects of her storyline but keep the details minimal. I can add the rest for SC2 as needed.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 17:43, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Sure, I can do that. I might not be able to put it all up right away, however. Should I just summarize what SC3 information we have, edit it, and do SC4? Swiftink (talk) 14:06, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Swiftink
Yep.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 14:09, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
Done! Can you please look it over for me? Swiftink (talk) 02:07, 15 December 2008 (UTC)Swiftink
It's a start. I'll go through it as time goes on, compact it to the necessary material and cite thoroughly, just still bouncing between a lot of articles here.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:25, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
OK, thanks. Should I change anything in the article now?Swiftink (talk) 22:41, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Swiftink

Youngest SC fighter ever?

I think I remember reading that Talim is the youngest fighter in the game series, at the age of 15. shouldn't it say that somewhere on this page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Android 18 lover (talkcontribs) 00:37, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

That's a bit harder to cite really, especially given Amy's is unknown (it's easier to say Astaroth and Necrid are the tallest in comparison for example, because nothing comes that close).--Kung Fu Man (talk) 03:42, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Astaroth is actually the youngest, he's a 7 year old who looks and acts like an adult because he's a golem. Talim is the youngest human character, not counting Amy with her unknown age. --172.129.171.15 (talk) 16:16, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Talim's Birthplace

OK, people, I just thought I might as well bring this all to the surface in the discussion. People keep reverting and undoing Talim's birthplace. The length of the list of edits over this detail is getting ridiculous. It is not the Philippines. At least, it isn't the right information to be putting up there. Checking my guidebook, it clearly states Southeast Asia as Talim's birthplace, instead of the Philippines, which is wrong. OK, I hope everything is cleared up now. Swiftink (talk) 20:27, 17 January 2009 (UTC)Swiftink

Indeed. The Philippines didn't even exist at that time, a fact they care to ignore pretty well. This keeps up, protection might be the best recourse.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 20:55, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
This page will probably have to be protected. Someone has gone and undone it again, despite all the reasons we have given against it. I don't know why. This is getting to be extremely tiresome. Swiftink (talk) 19:08, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Swiftink
FYI, I have requested semi-protection here. The Prince (talk) 22:38, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. Swiftink (talk) 22:42, 21 January 2009 (UTC)Swiftink

ok if we say Talim is not actually a Filipino then what country is she? somewhere in southeast Asia that has Filipino language or rather unique Filipino terms such as babaylan, that who knows what it means? I don't think so, I mean come on your not making any sense get real. and doesn't the information provides that Spanish influences were being a treat to Talims village or something like that. and my only question is where on southeast Asia exactly? If you answer that then I'm convince.

"Get real"? Really what the hell is up with the nationalism over this character? The source says "Southeast Asia", and yes it's probably the Philippines. But guess what? It doesn't say that and to assume such is original research.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 06:07, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
And so? If it doesn't say it is in the Philippines, will naming her country as Philippines invalidate it? Read between the lines and analyze the history of the facts. It points to only one country. Besides, about that Tagalog language you are insisting, you better know what is the difference between a dialect and a language before you put something in this article which is definitely incorrect. P.S.: The Philippines existed even way before the Spanish era. Check its history before you utter something incorrect again.58.69.116.114 (talk) 07:15, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Here's an idea: what you're doing, saying "put two and two together" is called original research. The subject matter says, rather clearly enough, one thing. That is citable. There is nothing here saying absolutely the Philipines. And all you've managed to do here is show you're still the same guy that's been insisting on modifying this page everytime the protection period is up, just under a different IP. Bravo.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 08:03, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Though it was me who did those edits, I change it based on what is true, so I think your complaints are overruled. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.69.116.114 (talk) 13:35, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
But the sources say otherwise. Again, original research shouldn't be used on wikipedia, despite you making this a case of nationalism.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 13:43, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Original research usually has authors. Still, overruled. Besides, you do not need research on this. This is very evident and very obvious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.69.116.114 (talk) 14:22, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Says who? We like to put information you can actually cite on Wikipedia. If there are no official sources stating that it's the Philippines, then we don't put it there. We're not the creators of the game. Wikipedia does not publish original research, meaning if it's unpublished or of original thought, we're not allowed to put it up here. Thank you, Swiftink (talk) 19:17, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Dear, 58.69.116.114. It's not about the fact that she is from the Philippines, most of us believe that, it's just that Namco officially stated that her birthplace is South East Asia. It was never officially stated that she was in the Philippines. Since Wikipedia only uses official information, South East Asia is to be used rather than Philippines. Also it was only in 1543 that the Philippines was officialy named. It was when King Charles sent another voyage headed by Ruy Lopez de Villalobos - it was him who named the country "Philippines" to honor Philip (then a prince; son of Charles V) who would later on become King Philip II of Spain. And please stop with the nationalism, you're embarassing both of us. --Mgbenz (talk) 21:39, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

I made a report at WP:RPP whether page protection or IP blocking was neccessary. They blocked the IP for edit warring for 24 hours based on his edits from yesterday. Clearly a violation of WP:3RR. Momusufan (talk) 03:14, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Looks like the IP is back, but as a new IP of 58.69.116.132 and is up to his nationalism tricks again. I issued a only warning, hopefully it stops this guy. Momusufan (talk) 14:08, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

gago kayo MY KABABAYANS!

This is the ugly thing on Filipinos, you like to uplift our nationalism in a wrong place and wrong time, our nationalism must be applied NOW to things that are real like on the ongoing corruption on the government, stop acting like a pussy on this character the Filipinos will think you are overreacting for this slutty character not worthy of praise or recognition ok don't quarrel here.
