  • Epicgenius It's a drawing. But it should be free in India (60 years in India). In commons, only the option for U.S. is there, and I thought it would do the work. That's why didn't add PD-India manually. Also, its from a U.S. magazine. Now, the problem is, there's a issue with my PC, and I can't edit on mobile. If possible, kindly edit the file license.    Saha ❯❯❯ Stay safe  17:57, 16 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
ALT1a:... that grass was planted on top of Tala tank to protect it from the Japanese bombing on Calcutta during World War II?
ArnabSaha, that works as well. I changed the link to make it point directly to the article as required by DYK rules. Epicgenius (talk) 14:50, 25 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.

If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)

I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.

Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)

Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

Photo suggestions edit

Maybe not easy to do at the moment but when convenient I suggest as well as a better overall photo that a pic of the plaque in https://www.ice.org.uk/news-and-insight/latest-ice-news/field-trip-to-the-largest-tank-at-tala would be good. And if possible one from the same point as the old drawing. Chidgk1 (talk) 11:34, 8 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Chidgk1, Most probably I will visit the tank and click some pictures by this week.  Saha ❯❯❯ Stay safe  16:28, 9 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Also, found a better structural plan of the tank. Will replace the existing one  Saha ❯❯❯ Stay safe  16:35, 9 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Chidgk1 Visited the tank today. But, due to the ongoing festival, couldnt enter the complex and most of the areas were covered with banners, decorative lights. Photos I got: c:File:Tala tank 1.jpg ... c:File:Tala tank 8.jpg  Saha ❯❯❯ Stay safe  13:00, 16 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Glad you got out and about and I hope you enjoyed the festival. I think a brightly colored festival against a drab tank might have worked - but difficult to take. I see it is also tricky to picture because of the surrounding walls and electricity poles. I think 2

Tala tank 2
gives a good idea of the height and metal supports - maybe crop out a little from the bottom and right but maybe leave the top left for local colour and explain it in brackets in the caption. Or maybe 8 (slightly cropped) if you prefer. Anyway both of your 2 and 8 are better for this article than the current top pic so that could be moved down or removed. If you need me to check alt-text on that or any others you decide to add then ping me. Chidgk1 (talk) 13:29, 17 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Unless there is any relationship with the trains I think the pic with the guy is a better longshot - it should be cropped from the sides, top and perhaps a little from the bottom.

Maybe if you tell the renovation company you are improving the article they might let you have one or 2 interior pics Chidgk1 (talk) 16:41, 17 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
I was waiting for your opinion on the images. The uploader of the current infobox image was lucky to get that shot. At that time the bridge was just demolished and was easily accessible. Otherwise its very difficult to get a full image of the tank. Its massive! I will crop it. And will try to visit another day, after the festive season is over.  Saha ❯❯❯ Stay safe  18:39, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps the infobox data could be picked up from Wikidata edit

I see the article is in 2 languages so far. With all the recent improvements to the English article I guess it may be translated into other Indian languages in future. So it may be worth putting the infobox info into Wikidata to make it easier for new translations. To find out whether it is worth the effort I suggest experimenting to check which language(s) pick up the Wikidata when Wikipedia just has the empty infobox like {{Infobox building}}. I have found with other infoboxes that some languages do pick up Wikidata for some infoboxes and some don't. Chidgk1 (talk) 13:52, 17 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Duh - I just checked for English and it only picks up the map Chidgk1 (talk) 13:57, 17 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Pumps function and power and timing edit

So the principle of the pumping is still as described in cite 16? If so I think we should explain that in the article as it is not really covered in the article I linked to from "balancer" and most people won't understand "balancer".

I touched on energy storage before and you said it might be feasible. But perhaps you think the pumps are out of scope for this article? If they run the pumps at times of lowest electricity demand can they get cheap electricity? Or in future when the fossil fuel power stations have been replaced by low carbon power - presumably solar - if they pump when solar power exceeds electricity demand can they save much money? Or the pumps are not powerful enough for that? Or as the tank can hold 2 days supply could they do a deal where they get cheap power and keep it fairly full most of the time in return for an hour or so of Energy demand management whenever the electricity company is near a blackout? Chidgk1 (talk) 16:58, 17 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Cite access denied edit

Cite 34 http://aitcofficial.org/aitc/chief-minister-inaugurates-new-pipeline-project-at-tala-reiterates-on-recycle-wastes-to-protect-ganga-pollution/ gives me "access denied". Maybe it is only available in certain countries? And cite 35 is 404 "not found" for me Chidgk1 (talk) 17:19, 17 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Chidgk1 Cite 34 is a website of a political party. Thats why it isnt available outside India. Added a url access level "Limited" tag. And cite 35, they are doing something with their website for the last few days.  Saha ❯❯❯ Stay safe  05:41, 18 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
