Culture and Tourism edit

Hi! To the person who first edited the Tourism sector,

Just wondering if it'll be a good idea to shorten the tourism section and merge it into the culture section? The content is pretty much overlapping and a little bit missing the focus since all those "tourism destinations" oCite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).n the list are pretty much the historic monuments and cultural infrastructure. Also I think it is worthwhile to create a new page for "The culture of Tainan" and "List of Tourism destination in Tainan" since there are so many to talk about.Feyhsiang (talk) 06:54, 14 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I dumped the names of Tainan cuisines, hoping to create a separate list in the future. Feyhsiang (talk) 02:51, 30 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

City History edit

Dear all editors of Tainan City,

I will be rearranging the history of Tainan in few weeks time as most of you might notice its pretty messy. The version I created have integrated some useful references already existed and I will put the old history article here in the discussion board. Please leave your comment if you have any concerns on this matter. Feyhsiang (talk) 15:55, 15 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

See if everyone likes it.Feyhsiang (talk) 15:23, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Looks good. Go ahead and put it in. There are a few spelling and formatting issues, but I think that can be fixed directly in the article space.--Jiang (talk) 19:36, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I'm still learning to get the formats right. My Pinyin is not very good as well.Feyhsiang (talk) 13:12, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Capital City of Taiwan edit

Tainan was the capital city until 1885, when the Qing Dynasty declared Taiwan a province. Taichung was the capital from 1885 to 1889 before the capital was moved to Taipei.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ludahai (talkcontribs)

Origin of Taiwan's name? edit

Tainan's old name "Tayoan" gave rise to Taiwan is questionable. Please cite. I was educated in Taiwan and learned from textbook that it was from an aborigine word (don't remember which tribe) "Taiwowan" and when read fast sounds like Taiwan. --Mistakefinder (talk) 15:01, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mistakefinder,

According to my source one of the theory said "Tao-yuan" or "Tayouan" or whatever they put it in the references (there are dozens of variations) is the word Siraya people used to call Han Chinese another one said its' how Siraya people called Anping which was a sandspit at that time. But no matter which theory is true, it is unquestionable that Han Chinese adopted this name and later become the word "Taiwan". Feyhsiang (talk) 14:46, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Outer" and "inner" districts edit

On Tainan#Administrative_districts does the differentiation of outer and inner districts have any basis in law? If not, then please don't list them that way! If only an historical difference, then list that on a history page. Does a list of the 50 United States break them into the "original 13 colonies"? No. Only on a history page! Jidanni (talk) 04:30, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I cannot understand why they did this, because it is not fair to people from former Tainan County at all. In Xinbei, I did not do that.-- Meow 04:34, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

flag edit

Is there any reason for not having a flag in the article? Because List of administrative divisions of Taiwan has a flag for Tainan. And this is the only first-level division of Taiwan without a flag in the article. 82.141.67.208 (talk) 22:12, 15 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

External links modified edit

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 11 external links on Tainan. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Climate classification edit

Shouldn't the climate classification be Cwa instead of Aw, given that the January mean temperature is below 18C?Unown Uzer717 (talk) 02:09, 10 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
