Talk:T:MP

Just as a note to anyone passing by, T:MP was deliberately exempted from CSD R2 when it was implemented (see Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion/Archive 31 and Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion/Archive 33). It is prevented from being picked up in the various bot sweeps by the use of go away; please do not remove this template from the page or it disappears within hours. Thank you. Protection template edit

editrequest Protection templates don't seem to work on redirect pages. Please delete the protection template and replace it with Category:Protected redirects. Also, please replace go away with g8-exempt, which accomplishes the same without the visable component and bizarre name. --Bsherr (talk) 19:48, 28 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Replace one of the templates edit

editrequest The exemption template has been removed, with the edit summary saying that this page isn't actually covered by G8 (hence cannot be exempted). However, that means it's going to get caught by the bot sweeps again. Can someone add either go away or g8-exempt back to this page? Thanks! Admin help

It appears that this is misuse of the G8-exempt template, which is supposed to be used only on talk pages, and this talk-page shortcut is in mainspace. Maybe Nobots would be better; however, even that template's /doc page tells us that if these templates must be used in this way, then there may be an underlying problem that needs to be addressed. All this begs the question, "Why would a mainspace pseudonamespace shortcut be subject to bot deletion and require any bot-denial template at all?" Just because it's a shortcut to a talk page? That just doesn't make any sense to me. The go away template was removed from T:TDYK in 2008 apparently without repercussions. – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 02:35, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I may as well convert this Admin help and ask for a full edit of this protected template. Here is the edit link because this shortcut needs Rcats (redirect categories) added, as well. Please modify it as follows:

 • from this...
#REDIRECT Talk:Main Page
g8-exempt
(blank line)

 • to this...
#REDIRECT Talk:Main Page
*WHEN YOU COPY & PASTE, PLEASE ERASE THE TEXT ON THIS LINE & LEAVE THIS LINE BLANK.
to talk page

Template Redr is a shortcut for the This is a redirect template, which is itself a shortcut used to add categories to redirects. Thank you in advance! – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 00:23, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please put right at the end. Thanks! – Uanfala (talk) 22:12, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
