Twelve, thirteen or fourteen?? edit

On 23 July 1728, 13 people, six men and six women, were burned at the stake for witchcraft on on a peninsula of the Tisza, called Boszorkanysziget (Island of Witches). But six + six = twelve, not thirteen!!! Moreover, in the lead a number of fourteen is given. Could anybody provide a correct data about the number of executions?? It's a bit confusing. It's true that 12 people were burnt alive on that day, but a 13th was beheaded and then burnt at the same time. In addition, a fourteenth, a woman convicted along with the rest, had her execution postponed because she was pregnant.

I'll update the page when I have time. In particular, the names and occupations of the victims are known, so it's a pity not to have them here. Bdellovibrio (talk) 13:52, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
