Possible copying/close paraphrasing problem edit

I just don't know why I have not before now posted here an example of the kind of edit that caused me to list this article at WP:CP. I apologise for that, particularly as more than one editor has suggested that there is nothing to worry about here. With this edit editor FloraWilde added this text:

It is found in sandy or gravelly soils between 2,500' and 7,500' in Creosote scrub and Joshua Tree woodland communities of the northern, eastern, and sourthern Mojave Desert.

Mojave Desert Wildflowers, by Pam MacKay, has on page 214 this text:

This plant grows in sandy or gravelly soil between 2,500' and 7,500' in creosote bush scrub and Joshua tree woodland in the northern, eastern and southern Mojave Desert.

I don't see how such very close paraphrasing can be justified. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 08:52, 14 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for citing an example. I use the same template structure (in my head) for general sentences on each plant section, "It is found in A soil type, at B elevation, in habitat C, at location D." where I might mix the order of A, B, C, and D, and randomly order elements inside each. In writing a hundred articles, this is statistically bound to randomly create sentences that appear to be copyright violations of field guides which have the same very finite information. Since Juslettersandnumbers made the two comments, I have been going back and checking my sentences against the source to make sure this has not occured, and changing this order or breaking up the sentences if it has presented information in the same order as the source so as to be, or appear to be, a copyright violation. I could reword this sentence, but the entire article was taken down because of a problem or (justifiably) perceived problem with this one sentence. FloraWilde (talk) 11:21, 14 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I've now rewritten that sentence, and some others that seemed too close to the source (see below). I'm not a botanist, so please feel free to correct any errors I may have introduced. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:16, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
