Shoemaker's Work

edit

We should add more about Shoemaker's work, including his debate with Ned Block about whether "absent qualia" are possible. I would be willing to add this information after I have done a bit more research. Acumensch 00:34, 1 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

At the top of this article the date of Dr Shoemaker's death is given accurately. But as of this writing, there is a statement in the text of the article that he died (will die) on September 22. Please fix that. --72.79.210.199 (talk) 12:08, 7 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Add the following information: In 2021, his own son, David Shoemaker, was hired at the very same chair Sydney Shoemaker had retired from at Cornell university. 2A02:1210:580C:A400:FD5C:2C22:CFDD:AB28 (talk) 19:21, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

David Shoemaker is not Sydney Shoemaker's son. Sydney's son is Peter Shoemaker who is not a philosopher nor affiliated with Cornell University. This is Sydney's daughter-in-law who is letting you know this. Please remove the section on David Shoemaker. They are of no relation. JillLib (talk) 17:28, 28 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

edit

Professor Shoemaker passed away on September 3rd, 2022, as reflected in his death certificate, not September 6th (which was reported in several places on the internet). This should be corrected at the beginning of the article and at the end of Education and career.

If there are any questions about this, I am his son and can be reached at Peter.shoemaker@shu.edu .
