Swift Creek rail bridge.

edit

I am the one who took those pictures of the east and west abutments along with many other pictures of the remains. It had to be a two span bridge as there are also remains of a pier in the middle of the creek. The height of the roadbed above the top of the western pier indicates to me that this was a wooden bridge just like the Richmond & Petersburg James River bridge with the rails on top. A friend whose family once owned this area told me that when he was much younger more was visible of the mid-creek pier. He thinks later storms carrying trees and other debris damaged it. When I took my pictures there was much more piled up on the center piers remains. This was in June of 2013. I donated all the pictures to the Chesterfield Museum located behind the old court house. I grew up within walking distance of this location but never visited it.....unfortunately. 2601:144:200:5000:7100:5227:5C5D:8C03 (talk) 00:22, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
