CNN says it was in part a Russian disinformation campaign. --- Possibly (talk) 01:35, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • LOL, I think we may have bumped into a research project worth being done through Wikiversity. Actually, I happen to know a little about then international relations and have read books about Mitrokhin Archive by Christopher Andrew. What CNN described is quite like Active measures and Operation Denver and perfectly suited the historic backgrounds for GDR and USSR at that time. GDR was then desperate to stop its massive demographic outflow in Berlin by all means. Depicting West Germany as a Neo-Nazi country fits exactly with GDR and Soviet propaganda. --Aronlee90 (talk) 12:41, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Conversely, blaming the Soviets as a means to obfuscate the West's post-war tolerance of fascists is equally plausible (eg Operation Paperclip)...but without HQRS this is all just idle speculation. Regards, --Goldsztajn (talk) 07:05, 13 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
