Suxy, Chiny edit
@Uanfala: A single article with a single misspelling of a locality name on a page that differs from the target doesn't warrant sufficient justification for it to have an entry in a disambiguation. I didn't remove the entry though, I moved it down to 'see also' as "• Suxy, a district in Chiny, Wallonia, Belgium". Besides, the misspelling has been fixed by me, and I created a redirect to Chiny. At the bare minimum 'Sussy' should be the title of the article on the French Wikipedia, but it seems Suxy is the correct spelling and Sussy was just a translation error on that one page. - Why do you think it's a misspelling? It's used in sources like this one (which had been given in an html comment next to the entry). Also a note that a dab page isn't there to list articles that have the dab term in their titles. It's there to list the topics (with articles) that the dab term can refer to, and that will often not appear in any article titles. – Uanfala (talk) 11:28, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Uanfala: I believe it's a misspelling since it's just a single line—"In 1054 without the knowledge of his parents he and his friend Walter gave themselves to the life of hermits at Sussy in the Ardennes, then at Pittingen..."—present in multiple sources with duplicated content that has the place name spelt as such. The article on the French Wikipedia doesn't mention it being spelt or alternatively spelt as 'Sussy' either. At the bare minimum I think it should be a 'see also' entry. - I really don't see how you would assume it's a misspelling given that substituting ss for x is not plausible in English, the language of the source that allegedly committed the misspelling, and that s and x sometimes alternate in French (see for example this unrelated place in France, whose name is spelt both Sussy and Suxy). I can't easily find sources equating the two spellings for the place in Belgium, but I can see contexts where Sussy appears to be used to refer to the place in Wallonia [1]. The spelling is quite obscure, and it wouldn't have occurred to me to include it on the dab, but it is used on Wikipedia (or was used, before you changed it). – Uanfala (talk) 23:22, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Uanfala: 'Suxy' is pronounced 'Sussy' (su-see), it's where the spelling in that source comes from and how the x becomes ss. 'Sussy' isn't even a colloquial or official alternative name of the place, so it shouldn't be listed as such. It makes sense to include Suxy, at maximum inclusion, as a 'see also' entry, where entries with similar cases are placed and because it's only a single phonetically-derived misspelling of a place without an article on the English Wikipedia that has been corrected and is no longer present on the site. - Well, that explains why you believed it was a misspelling. However, you don't seem to acknowledge that it isn't one, and I'm afraid I can't make the point any more clearly or forcefully than I already have. The only argument I can see here is over the level of presentation of obscure/obsolete spellings and whether we need to indicate clearly that they are obscure/obsolete. We don't provide navigation just for official or currently popular names, but for any that have been consistently attested in sources. – Uanfala (talk) 02:05, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Anyone who clicks the link to the FR WP article is likely expecting the place to be called 'Sussy' instead of 'Suxy' and a disambiguation page should really only be a directory of internal content that shares the same name. Elsewise we'd be adding things that aren't on Wikipedia, and clutter the page. Not to mention entries like this are why we have see also sections—for things that don't 100% lexically match the page title but are still either phonetically similar or are partial title matches. - "Sussy" is an attested spelling for the place in Belgium (obscure, but attested), so the entry belongs in the body of the dab page along with the other entries for topics referred to as "Sussy", and not in the see also section, which is for entities not referred to as "Sussy". I've just clarified [2] the entry to make it explicit this name is rare. As for allowing entries only for content here on Wikipedia, that's a completely different question and I agree with you. But here we do have Wikipedia content on the topic: there's a link to the frwiki article on it, as well as a link to the English-language article Chiny, which mentions Suxy and provides enough context for those who don't want to use the French article. – Uanfala (talk) 17:14, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
