List of programs broadcast by Surya TV Merge

edit

The above article should be merged int this article because it is not long enough to be split and leaves behind a mini-stub. The references can be added to this article to improve it, imv Atlantic306 (talk) 00:15, 27 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Misuse of nomination template

edit

@Mjetal7lica9: What is the purpose of this edit, where you appear to be misusing the {{nominated}} template? This template is supposed to only be used in conjunction with award nominations, not just to make things pink. Further, when you create a colouring scheme that only you understand, that doesn't help readers figure out what that pink content is supposed to represent. That's why normally we would include a legend explaining "content in pink represent shows that are not on the air" or something along those lines. Do you somehow think that people automatically associate the colour pink with something not being on television? And if the series isn't being broadcast, why isn't it in the former shows section? How can something be in current programming that isn't currently being broadcast? Not one aspect of this makes sense to me. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:46, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

And while we're talking about stuff, what on earth does "193+/446" or "207+/1353" mean? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:50, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
193+/446 You don't know the meaning of this.Any fool will understand this Are you idiot i think you don't have any sense  and you teaching everyone. And wikipedia is not your App or website and Surya tv is your channel?Everyone can edit in wikipedia.I don't edited any type of useless thing but you are removing all things.Time and Upcoming programs are important for readers. If you don't watch surya tv plzz don't edit this.Everyone can know by aires on date of Swantham Sujaatha its November 16 and red Colour also, there is one more thing time coloum but you removed .If there is time coloum it will understand easily but you removed that go and check other Tv channels there is also time section then you why only removing surya tv time section. You removing all informative things. And i am so sorry to say all this.Mjetal7lica9 (talk) 19:09, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Mjetal7lica9: First, watch the personal attacks, as they won't be tolerated. Second, no I don't know what "193+/446" or "207+/1353" means, which is why I'm asking your for clarification, and I doubt that anyone will intuitively understand this content either. Are you trying to say that the series Praanasakhi was ordered for 446 episodes and more than 193 of them have aired? That's a very confusing way to say that, and the 446 value would have to be sourced. I also don't know of any quality article that would present an episode count in this convoluted way. You didn't answer why you are misusing the {{nominated}} template for something that has nothing to do with award nominations. To address your other complaint, I deleted the bulk of the programming content because it already exists at List of programs broadcast by Surya TV. If you want it all to be at Surya TV, then read WP:CWW, and perform the merge that was suggested in September, then request to have List of programs broadcast by Surya TV deleted. But it doesn't make any sense to have two articles devoted to the same content, right? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:29, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Mjetal7lica9, couple of notes - please don't use personal attacks, that's not helpful and won't win you any friends. You are correct, Wikipedia isn't our app/website, but it's also not yours. It belongs to the community and readers. Several of your edits have been reverted and explained in edit summaries, but I'm guessing you missed those. A key policy of Wikipedia is verifiability, meaning readers should be able to verify what's in the articles. That's done by including reliable sources.
For upcoming shows, you need to include a WP:REFERENCE that says the show will be broadcast here. "Everybody knows" isn't a source, it's not even true. You may know, but for readers, you need to include the source. I've WP:BOLDly merged the information from the List of shows article into this one. We shouldn't have a show list in multiple places, that gets confusing fast. We'll see if this merge sticks. For show times, they generally aren't mentioned as Wikipedia isn't a TV Guide - WP:NOTTVGUIDE explains more. Ravensfire (talk) 19:34, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I don't personally attacked anyone.I'm so sorry if my message hurt you. Mjetal7lica9 (talk) 20:21, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

193+/446 means this show was already ended in Colors Tv with 446 episodes thats why i added like that.Surya Tv is dubbing Meri Ashiqui Tum Se Hi and aired 204+ episodes. Mjetal7lica9 (talk) 11:40, 23 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

edit

The Popular shows section is highly subjective, and should probably be cut unless someone can clarify how we decide what "popular" is, like if the threshold was that it made a top-ten chart of Malayalam-language shows in India, and that would have to be supported by reliable sources, of course. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:47, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Didn't see this earlier, but concur. Sections like this are not helpful, are arbitrary and are just pure original research. Ravensfire (talk) 01:30, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Mjetal7lica9: You did not respond to this talk page discussion, so I didn't think there was any objection to my proposal to cut the Popular shows section, which I did here. So it's unclear why in this edit you restored a big chunk of the "Popular show" content that I recently deleted, and still haven't participated in this discussion. As noted, "popular" is subjective, and we can't have a limitless wall of shows listed here, as Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate list of information. If you want the section to reflect, for example, the top 10 highest-rated shows on Surya TV, that might be something you could argue for, but then you'd have to prove that those shows have the top ten highest TRPs on this network, which I imagine would be hard to do. When I look at random "List of programs broadcast by ___" articles, (List of programs broadcast by ABS-CBN, List of programs broadcast by MTV, List of programs broadcast by Univision) I don't see this sort of thing. So if the community doesn't typically include this, it seems odd that we would. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:24, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am so sorry, I made a mistake in title, that is not poppular shows. That shows are former reality shows. Mjetal7lica9 (talk) 18:14, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Certainly not all of them - Laughing Villa is absolutely not a reality show. It's already listed in the article, in fact. That former shows section is starting to look like a disorganized mess with inconsistent formatting. I'm starting to second-guess the article merger. Not much, but starting. Oh - almost forgot! @Mjetal7lica9:, thank you for discussing this here and working towards a good resolution. This is the best way differences / editorial disputes are handled! WP:BRD is the ideal approach to editing, and when followed, it makes resolving issues much easier. Thank you for doing just that. Ravensfire (talk) 15:52, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Continued problems

edit

@Mjetal7lica9: Though I understand that you have some kind of personal preference for what this article is supposed to look like, your efforts to carry that out are often problematic, like here, where you create a convoluted "No. of episodes aired and Total no.of episodes" column, which is not only sloppily-written and doesn't render properly on the page, but is also not what the bulk of the content in this section represents, since only two entries have total episode counts. "Total number of episodes" also implies that the series' have ended, which might be true for two of them, but shows like Alaavudheen, where all we say is "475+" would lead the reader to think that the series ended at somewhere around 475 episodes, and that all episodes of that series had aired.

So it makes more sense to me to have either:

  1. A "No. of episodes aired" column that solely indicates how many episodes aired, with none of that convoluted "207+/446" nonsense, which nobody will intuitively understand without explanation
  2. A "No. of episodes aired" column that clearly states "207 out of 446 produced"

Which do you prefer? Or, if you have a separate proposal that makes sense, please feel free to propose it. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:01, 26 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

If I write total no of episodes and no.of episodes aired the column will be dirty that's why i hides the option. And i don't understanding what you mean by produced.I guess 207+ aired out of 446 episodes is better. Mjetal7lica9 (talk) 22:11, 26 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced content. Again.

edit

@Mjetal7lica9: Re: this and similar, how do you intend to prove that every one of those serials aired on Surya TV and did so during the dates and years that you have indicated? Virtually everything in the Formerly broadcast serials section is unsourced. Am I to assume that you have photographically committed each title and each date range to memory? That seems extraordinarily difficult to believe. So where did this information come from, and how can it be verified? This may be a surprise to you, but all content must be verifiable. So even if you did somehow memorise all of this stuff (which I don't believe), other editors would have to be able to verify it. All of that content is subject to deletion, and if you were to restore it, you would have the burden of providing references. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:52, 15 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

More unsourced content

edit

@Mjetal7lica9 and George96213: You both need to stop adding unsourced content to this article as you continue to do, for example [1]. Also, it's very bizarre that you would attempt to list every film that was rebroadcast on this network. That's such a trivial detail, and I would love to know what quality article about a TV network you are both using as an inspiration, because there is no way this would survive scrutiny by WikiProject Television.
