Suspected Tribes

Mosquito? As a tribe name?

I doubt it. Asteroixiii (talk) 05:42, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Go ahead and revert any unsourced speculation. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 06:09, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Russell Hantz

Does anyone have any information about the rumours that Russell is returning this season? Should we also mention that CBS has reported that they've taken into account the "Russell factor" when hiding HII for this season? TheTribeHasSpoken (talk) 08:26, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

its fine with me (98.231.218.47 (talk) 14:09, 3 July 2010 (UTC))

Heads-Up on Tribes

The following pictures were taken over the past few days by spotters in Nicaragua:

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c202/flick102/survivor/genimage-2.jpg

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c202/flick102/survivor/P1020869.jpg

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c202/flick102/survivor/P1020863.jpg

The challenge props seem to imply two tribes -

La Flor (Spanish for flower), the gold tribe, with the emblem being a fleur-de-lis, and

Espada (Spanish for sword), the blue tribe, with the emblem being two crossing swords.

Additionally, these pictures were taken at a Survivor launch party for Nicaraguan Business Investors:

http://www.survivorfever.net/images21/pronicaragua_banner_01.jpg

http://www.survivorfever.net/images21/pronicaragua_banner_03.jpg

Blue and Gold flags were indeed present. The only extra color was Red, which very likely may be the merge color.

Should we add the information or wait until CBS releases a video of some sort? =)

With nothing from CBS or another reliable source, all we have is original research based on speculation from photos. LarryJeff (talk) 15:10, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Is a . /photo.php?pid=4748565&id=59672943648 picture posted on the Survivor's official Facebook page a reliable source? RaLo18 (talk with memy contributions) 18:08, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
If the facebook page seems to confirm that the tribe names are in fact "Espada" and "La Flor" than I am in favour of adding this to the wikipedia page. TheTribeHasSpoken (talk) 01:19, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
"Official" pictures on the CBS Survivor website do confirm the tribe names here. Seems like the most reliable source we can find. —Untitledmind72 (let's talk + contribs) 02:07, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

"Celebrity Series"

Any information if this is indeed a celebrity edition or at least celebrity vs non-celebrity? With Jimmy Johnson all but 100% confirmed, we may be in for a surprise.--Cooly123 20:27, 24 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cooly123 (talkcontribs)

It's not a celebrity edition, Jimmy Johnson is just a fan of the show himself. Though apparently, the tribes are divided by age, one tribe people 30 and younger, the other tribe 40 and older. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.150.125.242 (talk) 02:07, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Survivor Sucks.com has revealed the official cast for Survivor: Nicaragua. 20 people, divided by age into two tribes, Espada, the old tribe in blue, and La Flor, the young tribe, in gold.

La Flor: Alina Wilson Ben Henry Brenda Lowe Chase Rice Judson Birza Kelly Bruno Kelly Shinn Matthew Lanahan Na'Onka Mixon Shannon Elkins (male)

why has someone added the cast (unsourced)? If this is speculation, or retrieved from an unreliable source, it needs to be removed pending official confirmation. I would do it myself, but am not entirely sure how to do it TheTribeHasSpoken (talk) 08:53, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
I removed it again. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 08:56, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
All of you guys are right. It isn't a reliable source. But it is official confirmation, as all 20 contestants will be on the next season. Even CBS confirmed it. Thank you three for your contributions. (RealityShowsRock (talk) 14:31, 19 August 2010 (UTC))

Exile Island

will exile island return for this season? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.153.215.175 (talk) 14:28, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Seems like the colours in the Nicaragua logo are off as compared to the one on the CBS site. Is anyone able to alter it to the correct colours? 220.255.47.103 (talk) 17:23, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

If you feel a new logo is needed you can upload one if you have a better file on your computer providing it meets wikipedia's standards or you can use wikipedia commons to upload an image and use that link for inclusion here. I have never uploaded an image myself but if you follow the steps it shouldnt be so hard. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 14:47, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Names

Just pointing this out, but shouldn't the contestants be arranged in alphabetical order, but starting with the first letter of the last name (i.e. start with Jill Behm and ends with Alina Wilson. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.150.125.242 (talk) 03:16, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Done This appears to have been done =) - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 14:42, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

No, on the show they are mainly addressed by their first name.Peanut.pookie (talk) 01:09, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Yes, but proper the proper format is to arrange them in alphabetical order by their last name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.150.125.242 (talk) 22:31, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Would this fall under WP:Manual of Style? 24.150.125.242 is right, some people can argue that they use their first names on the show so lets use them here, while others might want to put last name first as it is proper and respectful. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 22:39, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Tribe colors

The new CBS buffs have been released on the CBS online store. Using a color-picking software, I found differences in the buff colors between the current ones. I suggest changing them (though maybe not to this color; any suggestions about a better color could work too). Below are colorboxes and a sample "game table".

When I put up my colors, I did notice a bit of dullness in them...I agree completely with your colors, they're much more bright and realistic than mine, which were just a "starting point" to get the colors on the right track. I vote we change the colors to these. —Untitledmind72 (let's talk + contribs) 16:41, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

LOOK DOWN BELOW!!!!

There was been some vandalism. Should we make a template for the character chart and then semi protect the template? Feel free to leave any questions, agreements, or comments below. And thanks for your contribution to Survivor, guys. (RealityShowsRock (talk) 00:59, 28 August 2010 (UTC))

Vandalism can always be reverted and a template is not needed as List of Survivor contestants exists. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 22:44, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Survivor 22 Merge

Seeing that Survivor 22 is long and far away I have decided to put the reported loacation into this article for now. As such I have also placed the article Survivor 22 up for AfD. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 04:22, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

I disagree with this merge. Merging future seasons to the current season is not normal practice. Merging to Survivor (U.S. TV series) is more reasonable, though I don't think that should be done either. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 08:20, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Was the article merged? 74.110.57.161 (talk) 23:18, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Survivor 22

I heard it would be a Rob v Russell season, with the two rivals "mentoring" 18 new contestants until the merge. (RealityShowsRock (talk) 20:54, 10 September 2010 (UTC))

- The B Rob vs Russell season is just speculation. This is just hearsay, but Rob refuses to do another season with Russell, so it's something that was suggested, but won't be happening. That doesn't mean that either of them won't be back the next season, but this really isn't the place to discuss this type of stuff in any event. jjh295 16 September 2010 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.201.88.94 (talk) 05:43, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Change Jud to Fabio

in the opening credits, Jud is now listed as Fabio--Peanut.pookie (talk) 00:05, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

I see that. Bleah, but okay. If that's what is used. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:05, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Title quotes

For a while now, every episode title has been a direct quote from one of the contestants. Perhaps we should list who said the title quote, similar to Two and a Half Men? Hasta luego (talk) 00:52, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Agree with you!--Tyler.ic.rodriguez (talk) 00:58, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

I do not think that such a listing would be useful. The origin of the title quotes has no bearing on the game itself and is just trivia that doesn't bring anything in particular to the article. If you review the talk page of a few seasons past, this topic has been discussed before and the consensus was to not include such information. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 04:46, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Episode 1: No Reward Challenge

Since the Reward Challenge box in the first episode got filled in and I reverted it twice, I thought I would explain why I believe that the correct label is "None". When Jeff announced the Medallion of Power, he didn't say this was a Reward Challenge like he normally does at Reward Challenges. There were no tribes at the time of the scramble, so no specific tribe won at the time, though it ended up that way after the fact. And finally, a review of the official CBS recap has the Immunity Challenge under the section header of "Reward/Immunity Challenge" (even there was no reward). If the Medallion of Power scramble was a Reward Challenge, it would have been listed that way as previous recaps had the challenges clearly labeled in the section header with "Reward/Immunity Challenge:", "Reward Challenge:" or "Immunity Challenge:" followed by the challenge's name. Finally there is no use of the word "challenge" in the recap's section about the Medallion of Power scramble while there is in the Immunity Challenge section. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:26, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

La Flor did get the idol clue, though. Since last season it's only been given to Reward Challenge winners. Hasta luego (talk) 01:06, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
New season, new rules. I agree if CBS is not calling it Reward, neither can we. --MASEM (t) 01:10, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
The idol clue wasn't given as part of the MoP scramble. The clue wasn't presented as anything related to competing in anything It wasn't announced by Jeff. It just seemed to randomly pop up in tree mail to whomever was lucky enough to have gone and picked up that day's mail. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:52, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Normally, CBS does a better job at hiding spoilers and Wikipedia tends to avoid spoiler sites (though in a past season they once spoiled who won the immunity challenge), but since the information is so blatantly out there from CBS itself, I think the spoiler is ok to list this time. Thegreyanomaly (talk) 19:50, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

We ought to post it only after it happns on air, nt based on spoilers. I know that I, for one,did not want to see that yet, and I reverted it.74.110.57.161 (talk) 14:10, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia does not censor. When we have a reliable source (such as CBS itself), we do not remove content just because we don't like it or want anything spoiled. Thegreyanomaly (talk) 18:43, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Merged tribe color

Since the anonymous IPs were in such a hurry to get the colors in and could not edit the {{stribe}} template, they chose to re-use the Villains color. I updated the template to set the merged tribe to the Villains color due to this choice. I only selected it to match the choice selected as I have no opinion on the actual color. I will let others decide if the color needs to be adjusted. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:27, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Alina voted out day

Please block the users which continue to show the tribal council in which Alina was voted out as day 21. It is very annoying having to undo their edits every five minutes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by A49b (talkcontribs) 02:46, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

I left the IP a note about that. Hopefully that will stop them from changing it again. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:57, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

"Purple Kelly"

Okay, after removing it one more time, perhaps there needs to be a clear discussion if "Purple Kelly" is to be used in the article or not. The prevailing style with this and past seasons has been to use the names as they appear on the CBS bios and the names as they appear onscreen during the opening credits and interviews. "Purple Kelly" is not used in either of these cases, so I am inclined to continue to remove the nickname. However, one case to be made for the inclusion is that Jeff continues to use the nickname "Purple Kelly" even though Kelly B. is already out of the game. I'd like to see some consensus for the continued removing of the nickname or if there is consensus to include the nickname. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 04:34, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Leave it out. LarryJeff (talk) 17:42, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
She's been referred as to Purple Kelly or Kelly Purple. Leave as is 82.17.236.204 (talk) 22:58, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
I think we should keep it as Kelly B. (was it?) because Fabio is the only one reffered diffrently, as his real name is Jud. --BigOz22 (talk) 18:12, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Recap episode

Does the recap episode count as an episode? The episode did have ratings for it. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 01:40, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

The style from previous episodes was to add to the tables, but skip it in the episode summaries and numbering. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:05, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Product placement

There was some pretty awkwardly over the top product placement this season (I think they even got Chase to say a tag line from the Jack Black movie as if it was casual conversation). This seems to have been pretty apparent to most of the fans. I don't have credible sources to reference (though I'm sure there are some) about this phenomenon (and how much many fans seem to dislike it), so I'm not recommending covering it here necesarily. However, in looking at those episodes, it looks like someone's gone to the trouble of make sure the products in questions were mentioned prominently, and linked to pages. I have no idea if that was purposeful, or just someone being detail oriented, but given that these aren't really notable details, and that calling so much attention to them at least gives the sense of impropriety, maybe it would just be better to say they went to a movie screening, and dealt with a phone, instead of giving free and unwarranted advertising to the brands. Just a thought. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.88.20.190 (talk) 04:27, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Reliable source for final vote

There were source listings for the final vote but those sources did not say for sure who voted for whom so I removed them. The final vote showed 4 people's votes and in interviews we know who Holly and NaOnka voted for. Is there definitive proof who Jane, Benry and Kelly S. voted for? I'm 100% sure the chart is correct but we need a source other than opinion. Fyunck(click) (talk) 02:06, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I think I've found enough references to settle this (though one of them we will have to accept at face value). To keep things really clear, I added in a reference to the four votes shown in the episode. Holly's vote is referenced from her interview. Jane's vote is referenced by an interview with Fabio. The bad part about that reference is that the same site has an interview with Chase where a CBS PR rep cuts off Chase from saying who his fourth vote was, so apparently Fabio didn't get that memo. Okay, so now we have references for all of Chase's votes. Since Fabio won with five votes, we can infer that the other three voted for Fabio. Those are the best references I can find so far, but I'll keep digging. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 19:49, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
That's good enough for me now. They are not the best sources but it's all we have, and as long as we have the correct links to the 4 Chase votes the rest can be inferred. I don't know why CBS is being so cryptic with this. Thanks for pointing this all out. Fyunck(click) (talk) 21:23, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Past seasons have been like this, too. I have no idea why they don't have a clip of the final vote like they do with all of the other votes. Sometimes with previous seasons, Jeff will ask a question about who voted for who, but he didn't this season, so we're stuck. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:53, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Nicknames

I noticed that there was a previous discussion on whether or not to include Kelly Shinn's nickname of Purple Kelly or Kelly Purple in the article. Personally, I think it should be included. I don't get how Benry, Sash, Fabio, or Jimmy T are any different. None of those nicknames are the person's real name. If someone could explain the reasoning behind this, I would appreciate it. Thanks. Whitestorm17 (talk) 02:54, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Vote Tally

I have seen this issue on a few other seasons and have been able to change it. The way I see it, Kelly Bruno received eight votes and Marty received fifteen. Marty receieved three votes on Episode 6, then one in the re-vote, making the tally four. In the next episode, he receieved two more, totalling six votes. On Episode 8, he received two more votes from Alina Wilson and Jane Bright, bringing the tally to eight votes. On Episode 9, he received seven votes from Holly Hoffman, Brenda Lowe, Chase Rice, Matthew "Sash" Lenahan, Kelly "Purple Kelly" Shinn, Jane Bright, and NaOnka Mixon, ending with a total of fifteen votes.

For Kelly Bruno, on episode 6, she recieved three votes in the inital vote, however, in the re-vote she received five votes from Brenda, Sash, Jud "Fabio" Birza, Purple Kelly, and Jill Behm, totalling eight votes. I am going to change it and if you disagree here, please post why. Thanks. Whitestorm17 (talk) 21:45, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Jury Vote

Do we REALLY need to have the citations in the voting chart for which jurors voted for who? We don't do that in any other season. Stjimmy61892 (talk) 17:37, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Bad Reception

I find it a little strange that there is a whole section on the bad reception that this season got. None of the other seasons really have something like that and I wonder if it should be on the page. If you have sources from Jeff Probst about him hating the season, then maybe that should be included instead. That's my opinion.
