Toad edit

Instead of Toad being a teamate he should be that secret character in the "Captians" category. The character who should take Toad's place for being a teamate should be Shy Guy. Toad deserves much more credit.

Shy Guy is a sidekick in the new version.

Boxart edit

Is the box art for this game not one of the coolest things you've ever seen? I think it's great that Nintendo and Next Level opted to give Mario and friends a little kick (no pun intended) in the attitude department. The Trashman 00:58, 18 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Unlockables edit

I removed unlockables as strategies do not belong on an encyclopaedia, it is content for a players guide and should be on Wikibooks. The- 21:23, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Violent? edit

Who are these people that claim it's the most violent Mario game? Is there a source for this statement? What about Super Smash Bros.? --TheKoG (talk|contribs) 15:55, 21 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Last night I was watching X-Play and they reviewed this game. The quote about this being the most violent came from their review. I've changed the trivia statement to reflect that. --TheKoG (talk|contribs) 14:10, 22 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sequel? edit

Gee I wonder if the Wii one is a launch title for Wii

Origin edit

Well, on the back of the case, it says "MADE IN USA". So, "MADE IN USA" is referring to the game. So, the fact is, it was made by Nintendo of America. --PJ Pete

Newb question: citations in "Reception" section edit

The first sentence in the Reception section has a reference. The second sentence has a link to a web page. It seems to me that it would be preferrable to have references (like the first sentence). I understand that the gamerankings page doesn't have an author... but it seems to me to be a superior format for this kind of thing.

Any thoughts? Ben 23:18, 24 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Title edit

Why do they call this Mario Smash Football in Australia as well? Don't the Aussies call it soccer? 82.41.66.173 15:26, 3 December 2006 (UTC)DanZie BoyReply

Actually, we usually do call it soccer. I think that the name was changed early last year, however, to football for some reason. But don't quote me on that. Hardcore gamer 48 11:07, 26 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removal of characters... why? edit

I don't see why the characters of this game should have been removed from the article; all the other GameCube Mario sports titles in Wikipedia have characters listed. I won't re-add them until I hear WHY they were removed (do NOT say it was cruft). Hardcore gamer 48 11:09, 26 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the Character's Section edit

Teams are made up of five members. The captain leads the team. The captain can perform a Super Strike by holding the B button down after charging a shot. After holding B down, a meter will appear. Three sidekicks that are color coded to match the captain and a Kritter (a Kremling enemy from the Donkey Kong Country series that acts as the goalie) form the rest of the team. Unlike the captains, the sidekicks cannot perform a Super Strike. The Super Team, which is a team of all robots, is unlocked by winning the Bowser Cup. Each Super Team member (except the goalie) can perform a Super Strike I fail to see how this has anything to do with the characters of the game. I'm removing it from the Characters section. If anyone can justify another reason for this information to be here, please feel free to let me know. Also, since we aren't a strategy guide, I don't see why we should need to mention what buttons to press to do what. Lorilei Mackenzie 20:03, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I removed that information and took out the "types" for the Captains. I did not feel it was necessary to mention that. I changed the format a bit under the character section, and I feel it is easier to read. Lorilei Mackenzie 20:09, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why no mention of the character differences? edit

THe mannerisms and personalities of the charactes are blatantly different from most other Mario Games, why isn't this noted? 70.17.0.102 17:53, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

GA Review edit

This review is transcluded from Talk:Super Mario Strikers/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

The article is neutral, broad, complies with the MoS, well-written and the images are correctly tagged. The sources are all fully detailed and reliable. I am passing Mario Strikers, it is a Good Article. There are a couple of extremely minor points which I'd like you to consider:

  • In the lead: "As in other Mario games such as Mario Power Tennis, the player can use Nintendo-based items such as bananas and red shells to hinder the opposition and gain the advantage.[2]" - a reader unfamiliar with Nintendo games could be forgiven for not understanding what is meant by "Nintendo-based items", please clarify this somehow.
    • Is the new version better?
  • Development - great section but ideally could contain a few more details, like how many staff worked on the title, how long development took etc. That's assuming such sources even exist, but it's always worth asking.
    • I'm afraid the sources I could find don't shed any light on this.
  • Reception - "Strikers' pick-up-and-play design will have you playing like a cartoon Pele in no time". Shouldn't Pele be wikilinked to the footballer?
    • Yeah, I usually forget these things as I just copy-and-paste without thinking.
  • Reception is again a good solid section, but I was a little disappointed to see audio being relegated (pun intended) to a single sentence. Presumably the game contains the usual suspects in terms of FX and music, but are none of the sources offering anything more than what's here? Another sentence or two on the audio side would be good if you could find anything relevant for it.

That's it, thanks for your time. Someoneanother 23:33, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

You've dealt with the suggestions too, excellent stuff. Someoneanother 09:06, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

All you have to do edit

This game is stupid and boring at least that's what i thought first. Then i got rid of the super strikes and man what a fun game it is, it plays just like FIFA street except theres weapons to use. Trust me taking out the superstrike may sound bad but it actually makes it one of the best multiplayer games on the gamecube and best mario sport game ever to exist. And that's all you have to do to have a good time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.9.169.65 (talk) 15:10, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
