Evidence of an Italian-American/African-American riot in 1970? Relevance to other Northeastern cities? edit
Prior to the advent of cable television service, Sunnyside was noted for having the worst television reception on Staten Island, a fact resulting from its being hemmed in by several hills, including Grymes Hill, Emerson Hill and Castleton Hill, the latter separating Sunnyside from neighboring Castleton Corners. In November 1970 a public ice skating rink opened in Clove Lakes Park; soon after this it became the scene of a race riot between groups of Italian American and African American youths, this incident highlighting the tensions that have long existed between these two groups in New York City and a host of other cities throughout the northeastern United States. Although today it is a racially mixed neighborhood,with a Hindu temple across the street from the ice skating rink.
1) Where is the source to a newspaper article or something that'd describe the existence of this event?
2) How would people know if the white American's were of Italian descent? Were they interviewed and asked? This is not described.
3) What evidence is there that the two groups have tension?
4) How is this ice skating incident relevant to other Northeastern cities? And what evidence is that there's tension between Italian-Americans and African-Americans? This tension must lead to love than, because there are many actors, singers and athletes who have this background. That list includes Mya, Alicia Keys, Franco Harris, Giancarlo Esposito, Vin Diesel, Roy Campanella, Leila Arcieri, Traci Bingham, Prince, Faith Evans and more.

Television reception edit
I considered moving the section on 'worst television reception in Staten Island' to talk, but left it solely because the statements about the hills constitutes a topography section (or geography section). Any opinion on the encyclopedic-ness of that section? RJFJR (talk) 03:54, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
