Content guidelines

edit

This article does not provide evidence of its topic's notability, and in fact seems to undermine its own case for retention in the encyclopedia by including a lot of content that does not belong in an encyclopedia article.

Lists of teachers, guidance counselors, and school secretaries normally aren't included in articles about schools. Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools states "The names of current and former teachers should only be included if they are notable in their own right (for example, they are published authors or they have won a teaching award) or they have been the subject of multiple non-trivial press coverage."

The information about the vandalism incident on May 16, 2008, is completely unsourced. It's not clear whether this event is sufficiently important to belong in an encyclopedia article, but without a verifiable source it definitely does not belong. My addition of a citation needed template has been reverted more than once. If no source can be supplied, Wikipedia policy indicates that the content should be deleted. --Orlady (talk) 03:28, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Statements removed from article

edit

I am removing the following material from the Men's soccer section of the article, for reasons given:

  • "..despite the adversity it faces. For 4 consecutive years coaches have been moving in and out, and with little to no student backing soccer is one of the least popular things at Sullivan Central. Despite this..." - Around Wikipedia, that kind of content is called "original research" and "point of view." Stick with sourced information, please.
  • "and ended their season in a semi-final game against rival Science Hill losing the game 2-1" - The score of one game is pretty trivial. Anyway, if this was a successful season, why are you telling about a loss?
  • "They also defeated there biggest rival Sullivan South" - The results of a single game are pretty trivial. Remember, this is an encyclopedia -- it's not the school newspaper or yearbook, or even the local daily newspaper.
  • "While the 07-08 season was great the 08-09 season looks even better with the return of key players Bennett Becker, Kenneth Long, Neyland Hopkins, Austin Culberson, Ben Martin, and Shaun Behne. The program has also produced King College's newest player Brent Baker." - This is an encyclopedia -- it's not the school newspaper or yearbook, or even the local daily newspaper. Furthermore, note that Wikipedia does not predict the future (see WP:Crystal).

removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV

edit

I've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:

This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever:
  1. There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
  2. It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
  3. In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant.

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 00:35, 24 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
