Untited edit

Are the findings in this book still supported by modern sociologists? Westfall 03:57, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The main conclusions are the same. gender, family bonds, fertility, religion (but any vs. unreligious) QuentinUK (talk) 09:56, 1 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wait, Durkheim said suicide was lower among military, due to increased coherence and context, not higher. Right? 24.45.201.179 (talk) 16:24, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi. There's a statement on the article saying as a conclusion by Durkheim that "Suicide rates are higher in Scandinavian countries". However, in his book (tr. Spaulding and Simpson, Free Press, 1951) on page 86 he writes "In short, of all the Germanic peoples, only the Germans are in general strongly inclined to suicide."; Germanic meaning "German, the Scandinavian, the Anglo-Saxon, the Flemish" (p. 85). There might be another section of the book mentioning it though. Havz (talk) 17:51, 1 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Addition to Suicide Portal edit

I mean, come on. It's a book about Suicide, and its one of the first modern studies into the phenomena. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.255.2.160 (talk) 04:17, 18 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
