Lots of redundant information.

edit

It looks like the writers of this article carefully followed the Girls Aloud discography page. Or maybe it was the other way around. Either way, both articles have lots of redundant information. I have deleted this information as it is obvious that it's listcruft.

  • I deleted the samples section because this is hard to maintain, and it does not belong in this article, which is about Sugababe's releases. Information about which sample used in which song should be in the song's article (if it has one).
  • The Soundtracks & Themes sections is also gone because, again, this is hard to maintain. Are we supposed to list all tv shows/films etc that use Sugababes songs? I don't think so.
  • "Planned Singles & Unreleased Tracks" is also gone because it is obvious that these songs will never be released. Why list them, then? The unreleased tracks listed are those that have been performed live. So what if the Sugababes have performed a particular track live? It does not mean it belongs in this article. That was on obvious form of both listcruft and fancruft.

If you have any problems, start a discussion here or go to my talk page. I will accept messages from fans who wish to verbally bash me up. But take note - I have followed one of WP's policies - Be Bold. Cheers *H¡ρρ¡ ¡ρρ¡ 13:44, 2 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

UK Sales Change

edit

Why do people constantly remove the UK Sales of Change (453.000)? You can't deny that the album was less successfull then most of their previous albums... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clemuns (talkcontribs) 11:41, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Changes

edit

I'm going to make this page a bit more like the Girls Aloud discography page. If anyone can cite the unreleases song section please do, but don't delete them yet. Charmer 16:11, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Croatian Chart Positions

edit

Can someone please add all of the croation chart positions, as someonne has already done for the #1 singles sction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Charmer (talkcontribs) 07:50, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unreleased songs

edit

I am going to delete this section. I've done it before, but someone keeps putting it back. This section is totally unnecessary. Firstly, there are no sources. Secondly, it is a list of live perfomances, which is hard to maintain. As for "Goodbye" (from Change recording sessions) - no source. *Hippi ippi 08:02, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

My Love Is Pink - Digitial Single

edit

My Love Is Pink has been released as a digitial single(http://www.7digital.com/artists/sugababes/my-love-is-pink). So where exactly would it fit? 195.194.178.154 (talk) 08:47, 16 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have put it in the Other singles section, because it is not a commercial single, yet. It still needs its own page though. Charmer (talk) 07:45, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sales certficates

edit

Why has change been listed as a platinum selling album on one line, then underneath the sales figures show around 235,000 copies? If One Touch has only been listed as having a gold certificate then surely change would have the same? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.3.237.26 (talk) 01:26, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

This page is a mess as far as sales and certifications go. Its as if someone has just decided what certification they think stuff should have and they are quite misguided. Have checked with the BPI who actually give out the certifications there are a number of errors e.g. About You Now is not platinum- it hasn't even been certified Silver yet (while it has sold enough it still hasn't) i will go through and change these when i have enough time. I mean an extra 100,000 has just been arbitrarily added to hole in the head since i last checked this page- how likely is that?! I welcome any help or comments from other disgruntled fans on this!Spicefunk (talk) 00:41, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sales & Peaks

edit

The albums and girls most important singles have bigger peaks and the sales are false. A month ago the peaks and sales were corect. For example In the Middle and Caught in a Moment, on their pages the peaks are at #8 and in the singles discography they peak at #4, which isn't true, Red Dress is their first single to peak at #4. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pussycat2008 (talkcontribs) 15:14, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Singles Charts

edit

A few editors at the moment are trying to add new charts to the page on the singles section. Editors such as myself have watched this page since it was first set up a few years ago. The page used to be an inaccurate disgrace because people just kept on adding charts wherever they felt like it. This cannot happen again. A couple of months ago Underneath-it-All cleaned the entire page up, adding references and reducing the amount of singles charts. The page looks awesome now. We cannot just add a singles chart because we feel like it or because a certain song has charted there even though it hasn't charted anywhere else. If we add the Czech and the Slovakian singles charts, then we might as well just add every single chart in the world onto the page but if we did that then we would be back to the start again, when the page looked a mess, so please leave the charts alone. Juicybrisket (talk) 19:33, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think we should add the Czech and Slovakian charts. They make the discography more representative of the group's international success. Additionally, as "My Love is Pink" only charted in Slovakia, illustrating this gives more validation to the fact that it was released. Moreover, because the group have been so successful in the Czech Republic (with two solo #1s), with greater success there than in other countries shown, it wastes and ignores the Sugababes' achievements there. I propose that these two charts, and no more, should be added. Furthermore, both are official charts with a reliable sources to reference data from, the IFPI, which is cited as reliable by Wikipedia's discography guidelines. Moreover, 11 charts is not an unmanagable figure, especially considering the size of some discographies on Wikipedia. To clear space, why not remove charts from the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland - all countries where the group hasn't been as successful (achieving no #1s, for instance) and where "My Love is Pink" has not charted? Finally, can I ask why "Do They Know It's Christmas?" has been removed? 82.45.225.4 (talk) 14:32, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've just read the posts by both Juicybrisket and 82.45.225.4. I understand both sides of the discussion and it's a tricky situation. So, in order to help me come to a conclusion myself, I too decided to look back at the History of this page, and it looked awful. I wanted to see how the page got like that, so I kept on going through each edit and it was because one extra chart had been added and so everybody felt like adding another one because they simply could or felt like it. I therefore am reluctant to allow the Czech and Slovak charts on the page because if this happens then it will be uncontrolable to stop other people from adding other charts. If one person's added a new chart, then why can't I? Also, I think that I need to reinforce what Juicybrisket is talking about, because I don't think that (s)he explained it very well. The Czech and the Slovakian singles charts are not classified as major charts. Yes, they are official and completely valid and reliable to put on each song's own wiki page, but on the discography page we need to show the standards of each song compared to the standards of another. The thing is that the Sugababes have performed great on the Czech and the Slovak charts however, putting them on the page just to show this would be a little bit biased as editors because they have the potential to perform well in Switzerland and the Netherlands etc, and they generally do but if they haven't performed well at times (on these MAJOR charts) then it is up to us as editors to represent this. I think that everybody knows the success of singles like Denial and such on the Czech and Slovak charts. If we want to find out more singles chartings for a specific song, then surely we should just click on the song's page itself. We need to present and fair and accurate discography page using solely major charts. The only MAJOR chart that I would recommend being shown on the page is the Norweigen Singles Chart. This is another major chart, but I'm not fussed if it can't go on the page.91.105.133.202 (talk) 16:46, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I understand how other editors want to add more charts, but I (along with other editors) have included the charts that are in the article because they can all be sourced with reliable references and follow various guidelines (see Wikipedia:Record charts & Wikipedia:WikiProject Discographies/style). -- Underneath-it-All (talk) 22:28, 25 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Every Heart Broken

edit

Every Heart Broken used to be down on Wikipedia as their third single from Catfights & Spotilights but now it has been removed. In January, they performed the song on T4 and introduced it as their 'new single'. Have plans for this single been scrapped or has someone just removed it down to unreliable sources or what? 83.71.60.208 (talk) 13:35, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

why on earth is buzzjack forums used as a reference for sales on a featured list?! a forum is not a reliable source and it will be removed otherwise when the article is re-assessed it will be fail and be downgraded fast! Mister sparky (talk) 23:03, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

10 million albums sold in UK?

edit

I have removed this ridiculous claim from the intro as it was unsourced and totally untrue. Sugababes have sold around 3.5 million albums in the UK. Platinum discs in the UK are given for sales of 300,000 copies. Some idiot obviously thinks that it means 1 million like it does in the US. And there is no official data about how many singles they have sold in the UK. Only three of their singles have been certified by the BPI in the UK (Freak, Round, and Push) - each getting a Silver disc which is for 200,000 copies for a single. There's no way the tally would reach 7 million for all of their singles or else we would have seen a lot more of them certified. 80.41.6.53 (talk) 02:11, 2 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Real Reformation

edit

Why is there an album down claiming to be slated for April 2011? I'm guessing the person who typed it has high hopes for previous members to reform. If they do reform, it won't be under the name 'Sugababes'. The name is owned by Island, and the current lineup are the only ones who can use it. Remove this album, as even if they do reform, it WON'T be a Sugababes album. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.40.11.27 (talk) 03:14, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

well the label has said they didnt register the name......which is rather slack on there part which means it is a 2 way road meaning it could go either way if the original line-up win the rights then they will be by the law be able to release sugababes material and choose if they want to block the current band or earn large amount of royalties off them Nbeau1989 (talk) 06:55, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

CHARTS/CERTIFICATIONS

BPI online site not updated/ Virgin Book of British Hit Albums

edit

This week I went to London and saw a nice book, OCC official material, "Virgin Book of British Hits Albums", 2009, by Martin Roach, ISBN-10: 0753517000 , with peak position, weeks on chart and certification of every album ever charting in the UK (till mid 2009, I think). Well, Taller in more ways was certified 3xPlatinum, not 2, according to this book (which I completeley see normal, as last known figure is 887,264). And, according to the book, "Catfights and Spotlights" was Gold, not Silver. (Last known figure is 122,326). BPI website has LOTS of albums under certified or non certified at all but then we've seen MusicWeek published the updated and real certifications, etc. Is a book a reliable source for Wikipedia in order to change and update theses 2 albums certifications???? Thanks. Rub rb (talk) 21:09, 25 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
