Ukrainian sources

edit

Haldir Marchwarden, this is a Romanian province. You aren't going to find Ukrainian ethnic estimates of a Romanian province simply because it is Romanian. We aren't talking about a historical region but an administrative province. I also don't know what do you expect to find by using Ukrainian sources (which would be nothing but inaccurate estimates) for a Romanian province, some kind of secret Ukrainian minority that the Romanian census didn't report? Hi there. Based on such things as:

Concerns have been raised about the way census are handled in Romania. For example, according to the 2011 Romanian census, Ukrainians of Romania number 51,703 people, making up 0.3% of the total population.[57] However, Ukrainians claim that the number is actually 250,000–300,000, that is four times the number stated by Romanian authorities.[58]

and

A second group of Ukrainians in Romania live in the Dobruja region of the Danube Delta. These are descendants of Zaporozhian Cossacks who fled Russian rule in the 18th century. In 1830, they numbered 1,095 families.[5] Over the years they were joined by other peasants fleeing serfdom in the Russian Empire. In 1992, their descendants numbered four thousand people according to official Romanian statistics,[6] while the local community claims to number 20,000.[5] Known as Rusnaks,[7] they continue to pursue the traditional Cossack lifestyle of hunting and fishing.

The funny thing was Siret's article though, were statistics had been altered in favor of Romanians against what the Romanian themselves claim, as even wp:ro was more fair (Ukrainians had been reduced from over 15% to 2.55%; Romanians jumped up from 82.11% to 95.85%). So I think that all Romanian sources (or any language source we have in support of demographics in these areas) should be reviewed, and, in addition to this, that other Ukrainian (or non-Romanian sources) should be also consulted, and we should report their point of view. If they state Romanian sources are unreliable and numbers might have been altered, then we should report it, at least mentioning it in passing.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 09:51, 26 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
