Talk:Success as a Mediator for Dummies

late note edit

Well after the AFD is over, now, i browsed here wondering if the redirect here now should be more specifically redirected to the section within the For Dummies page that lists various example books in the series, and if that section should be edited to mention this Success as a Mediator for Dummies book. Glancing at the sources in the edit history here (in version before this article was redirected), i check out the Forbes one, where I thought there was going to be coverage of the social marketing of this book, when it came out. Hmm, the Forbes article just barely mentions the Success as a Mediator for Dummies book; it is about the marketing of a different book, is not at all about this book. So that was a pretty dubious sentence in the article here. No matter, it was redirected. --doncram 18:52, 27 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

You've almost noticed. The original article was created dishonestly. It was spam, pure and simple. And like all spam, it should have been completely eliminated, not given a consolation prize. Choor monster (talk) 17:37, 30 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
I dunno about all of that. I added this "late note" here to record doubt, if/when someone wanted to re-start the article. You could be right that there should not be an article, and not even a redirect. In the AFD, what I said about a redirect was conditional: "Well, now "Success as a Mediator for Dummies" can be redirected to List of For Dummies books, if that list is edited to include mention of it." Previously, you really lost me and maybe others with what seemed like craziness about whether or not there could be a list of For Dummies books (of course there could, either as a standalone or as a section in the main For Dummies article). That and disputing a redirect to such a list seemed really absurd, maybe that contributed to the outcome of the AFD being not what you like. It would have been reasonable to contribute to the list of notable For Dummies books, and to argue that the Success book should not be mentioned there, and then to be convincing about not having a redirect. Opposing the list itself and any shortcut to it, was over the top. Anyhow, while i now lean against this Success article topic being restarted, redirects are cheap, don't hurt anything, and the outcome of the AFD was that this redirect would exist, so we're done, knock on wood. cheers, --doncram 18:50, 30 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
