The new list of SSAGO clubs is a good idea. It would be even better if the list linked to the Club's web sites. E.g., I have come across the Oxford and Bangor web sites recently. --Bduke 12:38, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

You can find the website for any of the clubs by visiting SSAGO web site. This sentence was added by User:80.6.89.170. I wikified the link. --Bduke 22:28, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Reference to Baden-Powell Guilds and Saint George Guilds edit

As far as I know, B-P Guilds did not come into existance until 1948, St George Guilds have never existed in the UK. So it seems unlikely that early Student Scout Clubs were know as these. I suggest the statement should be removed unless evidence is known.

List of places that do not have Clubs edit

Do we really need a list of places that do NOT have Clubs? It hardly seems encyclopedic. It also doiminates the article, being longer than the list of places that do have clubs. I think it should be deleted. Please discuss here. --Bduke 22:19, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

These are previously active clubs, I have removed the list argument over simple.

Martin (I can tell from the syntax it's you), please don't describe anyone who questions your edits "arguing". And can you sign your commenyts with four tildas? Biscit 12:44, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merge of Scogui here edit

This merge was proposed in September along with a suggestion that it be merged into Scouting in Leicestershire. Discussion on both was actually at Talk:Scogui and not here or at Talk:Scouting in Leicestershire where the merge tags direct to. I have removed the merge tags for the proposed merge to Scouting in Leicestershire, since there was no support to merge a Scout/Guide article into a purely Scout page. However the proposed merge to here had some support. I think it best if the discussion takes place at Talk:Scogui. Let us resolve it soon. --Bduke 22:20, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Scogui has been prod'ed for deletion. There is not, in my humble opinion, a snowball chance in hell that it would survice a move to AfD (articles for deletion) so I have left the prod tag and have done the merge to here. I moved only part of the article. There is no place for mention of the mascot or other largely advertising material. If people think differently please try other approaches, but I believe what I have done is the best outcome. --Bduke 22:35, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

ScoGui is no more notable than any other SSAGO club so belongs here. If they wanted a place for members to look for info it should be on their own website Biscit 12:41, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Witan edit

I have removed an external link to http://witan.com because the page did not contain anything useful, but it does raise an issue. This article should have something about the Witans, which were (are?) international jamboree like events for student Scouts and Guides. The first, was at Gilwell in UK in about 1960. It was run by the Oxford Club and Rover Crew. The second was a couple of years later in Oslo, Norway. I have no idea whether there were any more and I have no idea where to find sources about them. Any thoughts. --Bduke (talk) 22:46, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The last Witan was in the 1990s. I can get lots of info on Witan through SAGGA members, but I feel it would all be WP:OR. SSAGO are reviving the Witan, and from the memntion of Mike, I am sure the site in the link was of the right Witan. Biscit (talk) 23:57, 8 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I would be interested to see a list of all Witans. That could be put on the SAGGA web site or another web site and then we could use it as a source. It is not an independent source, but it could be used. The witan.com site is now not working, but it just had a large "W" and the word "Witan" - nothing more. --Bduke (talk) 00:42, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hmm... with the busy lives of most SAGGA members (family, jobs, houses etc) it's enough to cover SAGGA on the SAGGA website. Would the information put in the back of the Witan site (when complete) be OK? Probably bad form, but I can ping Mike (the webmaster) to see what's going on! Biscit (talk) 09:42, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sounds fine, but I am not sure what Witan site you refer to. The one mentioned above. You will have seen that I have added details of the first 2 Witans using the OUSGG as a source. I was involved with both. The 3rd was in Oslo, and I was there too, but I do not have a source. --Bduke (talk) 23:03, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
The new one that's under construction that you removed the reference to. All the evidence points to it being for the revived Witan in a year or two's time. I know the webmaster Biscit (talk) 09:47, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
http://witan.com is now redirecting to an investment company. When a site has the info we need, we can use it. Good luck with future Witans. --Bduke (talk) 12:41, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

That link is now dead. SSAGO History] mentions the 1984 Witan in Florence.--Bduke (Discussion) 01:41, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The link for the witan camps is http://witan.org/ not .com, though. That's not dead, but it does remain content free Biscit (talk) 09:36, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

There is now some some basic contact, networking and event information. There is also the facility to create more content. CaramelWhistle (talk) 00:29, 04 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Spelling edit

"organise" is the correct UK spelling and this is an article about a UK organisation. I have reverted the last change. --Bduke (talk) 00:32, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
