Creation of the memorial edit

Is there any official record about the offer and the creation of the memorial?

Err...that Shanksville things is a joke, right?

Gary, the Mayor of Strawberry Fields. everyday he is ot their making peace signs , off and on for the last 14 years, and steadaly every day for the past 5. he is something that should be mentioned. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wcm68UteL0M

I'm all about philanthropy, but should the article actually suggest donating to Gary? He is a nice guy and all, but I'm not sure that is encyclopedic. I'm not removing it for now, but this should be considered. Maybe it should note the fact that many tourists do, in fact, donate, but I think we'd need a source (I mean, I can attest to the fact, but that is original research). Illustrations edit

One— even two— of the vignettes of the mosaic could be replaced with views of the beautiful, maturing plantation of trees and bands of shrubs that provide the setting, to improve the article. --Wetman 21:43, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, a picture showing a wider view of this locale is needed! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.198.215.95 (talk) 00:49, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is by my apartment, so I'm up for it. First, are there any specific requests (i.e., what should be in the picture). Second, what is the policy on it? Of course I'm willing to give the picture to the community. Barring a response, I'll take a few and post a linke to them here. Judicata (talk) 17:18, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

A wishlist might include
  1. A photo of the entrance, as well as the southeast entrance from within the park
  2. A wider angle of the paths converging around the mosaic
  3. An image of the benches curving to the left when proceeding south down the path from the mosaic
  4. A closeup of a dedication plaque on one of the benches
  5. An image of The Dakota shot from within Strawberry Fields
  6. An image of the three cypress trees, which probably won't be so grand right now but will allow a fantastic compare and contrast in a hundred years
Once you take the pictures please upload them to Wikimedia Commons so all of the projects can access the images. To do so, go to Commons, create an account and click the "Upload file" link in the left hand column. Follow the instructions for submitting your own work. I recommend choosing Creative Commons-Attribution-ShareAlike as your license, aka CC-BY-SA. While uploading your images, please be sure to describe them and add them to Category:Strawberry Fields memorial. Finally, replace/add your images to this article. - BanyanTree 05:04, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'd hope there could be an atmospheric shot that captures the feel of lawn in dappled shade, mature trees, curving woodland edges. The curving line of benches seems less evocative to me. The white Magnolia soulangeana peaked last weekend... --Wetman (talk) 05:50, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Exceptional Writing edit

I just wanted to say that this article features some of the most beautiful writing I've ever seen on Wikipedia. "The mosaic is at the heart of a series of open and secret glades of lawn" is especially elegant, and I compliment the person or people who wrote it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.175.72.56 (talk) 19:33, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Origin of the Mosaic edit

The article on Lennon's death states that the "city of Naples, Italy, donated the Imagine mosaic centerpiece." While this article states that it was "made by Portuguese craftsmen as a gift from the city of Lisbon." Please resolve this discrepancy.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_John_Lennon#Memorials_and_tributes & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strawberry_Fields_%28memorial%29#Creation_and_location — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.255.18.25 (talk) 07:54, 3 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's resolved. Naples with a reference. Hotcop2 (talk) 17:53, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

why was the usage of portuguese pavement removed? even though it might not have been a gift from Lisbon, which i don't know if it is or not, it is still portuguese pavement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.54.195.192 (talk) 17:54, 24 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

While it is in the style of portugese pavement, the page is about the entire memorial, not just the mosaic. i can add this, but it really adds nothing to the page. Hotcop2 (talk) 00:03, 25 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
