Cleanup of Individual Pages

A lot of the pages for the individual members read more like a play by play of the manga, and less like an encyclopedia. (especially in the "current arc" sections.) I am not sure if this is the right place to bring this up, but I figured that it would be a much easier way than mentioning it on the individual pages.

Franky is an official Straw Hat crewmember now

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/43/Franky_accept.gif

Please stop removing his information as a crewmember, it's pointless. -PanicPaladin 10:03, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Current Crew Members

Question: Has Sogeking actually been accepted as an official member of the crew? I mean, Luffy hasn't even figured out his secret identity yet, that I remember.

nope, He stands at the same level as Franky. To the eyes of Luffy, he is an allie. But Ussop is temporarily, perhaps permanently still not a member of the Strawhats. If Ussop is reassign into the Strawhats, then his alter-ego: Sogeking, is also a member, even if Luffy doesn't see it that way. He might just name Sogeking as a Honorary Nakama, like Vivi-sama is. Currently Ussop is not a memeber of the Strawhats, and consecuently niether is Sogeking --Guille2015 20:32, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
So shouldn't this page reflect that rather than listing sogeking as a member? Perhaps list Ussop under former strawhats? That's the only reason I asked (I already knew the answer). Stardust8212 21:07, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
I thought of that ofcourse, but it seems that every member of the strawhats doesn't seem to mind that he is not a member. Thier actions are still very clear that they consider him Nakama regardless of what has happened. I also think that he will defenetely rejoin, because he is very tied to his father in the Red Hair pirates, and he has a counterpart in the Blackbeard pirates. Besides, if he is removed from the list, you'll see a whole lot of complaining, i dont think it really matters whether he is considered a member or not. Maybe just mentioning that he is Temporarily not a member of the strawhats. --Guille2015 21:20, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Well now Ussop is a member, he came back at the end of the water 7 arc. Do you guys watch one piece on youtube? I watch it on that and animefever.org. --Batman11

Enough with the Zolo/Zoro fight!

It seems that there are two sides, the Zolo side and the Zoro side. Prsonally, I don't really care which side "wins", although I'd slightly prefer Zoro. Wikipedia is a website open for all to edit. Anyone. So, please, just stick with one name, and stop the useless edits. Please.

I agree, actually, i think that we should all acknowledge that he is known as both those name, which means that he can be called as either Zolo or Zoro. My worry is that he should have the same name through the entire article. Across articles it doesn matter, but in one article, The first time his name is used needs to be stated that both uses are correct, then one name is used during the entire article. Just like the previous poster, I prefer Zoro, But I have to admit that Zolo takes preference because that is the OFFICIAL english translation of his name. --Guille2015 18:36, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

I think the fighting should end however I think the article should remain as Zoro as that is how the name is used in the Japanese regardless of the English translation (which in the original US release of the manga WAS Zoro and was changed after 4kids picked up the anime), since the current article is Roronoa Zoro I think it is most appropriate to leave Zoro and note the 4Kids name change, regardless of my personal opinion (which is that Zoro is better anyway). I don't want this to be a battle but I do want the article to be correct. Stardust8212 20:23, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
The thing is that both uses of the name are correct. Whether one is used over the other doesnt matter, as long as it is the same within an article. The article refering to Zoro as Zoro should use only Zoro as his name (and state Zolo as an alternate). So its not about being correct, but rather of having a well written article.--Guille2015 21:48, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
This is the ENGLISH Wikipedia, therefore the English version should be used as the name. louisng114 03:40, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
If we're doing about the anime, the Japanese verison should be used as the show was orginally JAPANESE. No arguments really needed. Because the english transaltions are screwed up anyway. Angel Emfrbl 15:53, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Let's just leave it as Zoro in this article as the main article says Zoro. If that article changes name we change name. If it was not changed it would cause a contradiction. We should change it to Zoro as the MAIN article says Zoro. All who wish to debate are welcome 58.105.132.61 07:19, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Interchangable or not, it is only a change in the SPOKEN language. the written language, as well on the bounty posters(in english) list him as Zoro. EWnglish web site or not, we are discussing a topic on here from Japan. Also, alot of information would be missing or messed up if we went with the 4kids version, because it lacks over 30(nearly 40 counting all the time they've cut out in the middle of shows) which would make things extremely inaccurate. We should just stick with Japanese names thorughout the site. It'll make things easier and MUCH more accurate to the Japanese Manga storyline, which as it is the orriginal one, it would be the most correct.

I know that I what I have to say may not matter but, unless there is a dubbed version of One Piece that does the original Japanese justice like Naruto and they use Zolo instead of Zoro, then I'm okay with it.

People please! This argument is over, this NOT discuss this anymore. Can't you guys see this topic is a couple months ago and has been resolved. Lets discuss this no more. Angel Emfrbl 07:17, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Seven Deadly Sins

I think this is really just a rumor among fans and doesn't generally fit very well. Usopp and Chopper aren't sloth (they don't lay around doing nothing all day) the closest to this is actually Zoro and if Luffy represented a sin it would be gluttony. Is there an actual source for this or is it just an opinion supposedly held by the fans? If there isn't a reliable source actually stating this I'm not sure it belongs here. I also saw this mentioned on the seven deadly sins page and it probably doesn't belong there either... Stardust8212 17:15, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

I think this is just original research. Althought some of the characters have a relationship with the sins, I doubt that there is an intentional association. Luffy also has Pride and so does Sanji and the rest of the Strawhats also develope some pride at different levels. I think this section doesn't belong in wiki. --Guille2015 21:48, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

I still think this is original Research, I agree that some of the members are sinners. But there is no prove that the One Piece's purpose is to identify the characters with the sins. This is just speculation by fans, and should be remove. Like i said before, almost all of the members of the strawhats and other characters share the same "sins". Nami is not the only one with greed, and Pride is present on everyone probably at the same level. Nami, is also a sloth as stated by Vivi several times. Chopper is by far not envious at all. He could probably be compared with Usopp. --Guille2015 20:32, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Agreed and done, if someone would like to bring forward an actual source for this information then they may add it back in, until then it is original reserch and not even accurate at that. Stardust8212 21:57, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Luffy would be Gluttony, and Sanji Lust :).Lancaster D Mistletoe 12:07, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes. Usopp would be pride and Nami greed. That leaves Zoro as sloth, Robin as envy, and Chopper as wrath. Piece of cake.

Chopper's Dream

I think that becoming a great doctor should be mentioned in the "Chopper's Dream" section, does anyone agree/disagree?

Agreed, I remember hearing him mention that.

Chopper's dream has nothing to do wth healing or curing or creating medicine. He only wanted to find the best medicine he could find for his hero, Hiluluk, who was sure to die, no matter what they did. After Hiluluk died, he wanted to become a great doctor like his hero, Hiluluk, in order to not lose anyone again, which came true when he started learning medicine with Kureha.

Hiluluk told Chopper alot of the outside world and the sakura that saved his life, and how amazing it is, and that he must see it some day, and that is the reason he left with Luffy.

BTW, you can hear the ED theme for ep 128. a song named Family, which basiclly concludes of the SHs's VAs singing about how that "we are not friends, sibilings, etc etc, we are family". There is a part in the song that all of them (six, Robin joined afterwards, but the full version of the song includes Robin/Yuriko Yamaguchi) sing about the dream each has. If you understand basic japanese, you'll know Chopper's dream is NOT to become a great doctor. Kurigiri 07:32, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Okay lets settle this matter ONCE AND FOR ALL. (This came from a translation of Ep.86, of the orginal Japanese verison). You can't go by one song anyway alone, so here is what is said in the anime.
Upon the death of his father-figure... Doctor Hiluluk dies. He calls to that Witch doctor and demands she make him a doctor reason: He wants to become a Panacea (the name that Doctor Hiluluk used) and be a doctor that cure any diease - even the one held by an entire country. He doesn't say this is a dream though, that I note... But its clear its part of his dream, just like Usopp also dreams of visiting Elbaf one day. Should it be in chopper's dream bit? I'll put this back in because its very clear that Chopper DOES dream about this, though his main dream is to see the world and expand his horizons. Angel Emfrbl 14:45, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Although I didn't notice the part about Usopp earlier, I'm against it on SHs article. We can write it in his article, we should write it there. I just read the end of Chopper's past again (chpt. 145), and he does say to Kureha "I want to become the best doctor! I want to cure every disease in the world! Because.. There is no disease that cannot be cured!!" Although this is the quote from the scanlations, so I have no proof to how accurate is that. I'll check Stephan's translation later. I bet it hits close enough, though I'm practicly positive Chopper didn't say "best". Anyway, this is from page 16. In page 15, Dalton yells at Wapol "there is no way to cure a crazy person!!!". Throughout that part, Hiluluk keeps saying that the miracle medicine is the sakura that saved his life. Didn't that dream, of making sakura bloom on a snow-island, came to life when Chopper was on his way out?

About the part about Usopp. Since it is has nothing to do with his part in this article, so both that and the Chopper thing should each go in their own articles. Unless anyone here finds a major flaw by doing so. Kurigiri 17:56, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Lol. We could argue about translations all day. So lets do it your way for. In this case there are properly a dozen ways to translate words of both the manga and anime. So in the short run, better not to argue over which translation we should go by or what is right and wrong.  ;) Angel Emfrbl 18:05, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Aren't we arguing about right and wrong? XD Kurigiri 19:43, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Personnelly I'd prefer to argue over to order Pizza or Pie. But that has nothing to do with this wikipedia page nor One Piece whats so ever. XD Angel Emfrbl 19:59, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Pizza, if you ask me :P Anyway, just checked Stephan's translation.

Chopper: DEACH BE TO BE A DOCDOR...!!!

- Page 184 -

Chopper: I WILL BE A "PANACEA"!!! I WILL BE A DOCDOR THAD CAN HEAL ADY SIGGNESS!!! BECAUSE...!! BECAUSE THERE'Z NO DISEAZE IN THIS WORLD... THAT CAN'T BE CURED!!!!

Directly from the page. BTW, Panacea. Oda has really done his research. Anyway, I'm conviced. Just keep the part about travelling the world. Kurigiri 21:01, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

The typos made that translation all the more worth-while! XD Angel Emfrbl 21:34, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

It's because Chopper is crying, that is not laughing matter >: Kurigiri 21:51, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Lol. I see now. Sorry my bad then. Anyway... Where are we up to now with this after all that??? XD Angel Emfrbl 22:22, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
By the way, Panacea is also the name, derived from the divinity of a legendary remedy to all evil. It's a common expression in Italian and I think in English too to say "La panacea di tutti i mali", "The remedy for all evil", so i linked to the medicine.Cuttyflam 09:16, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Added new section

Okay I added a section for clues on who the next crewmate will be. You now have a place to put clues on here... To sum up everything that straw hats have suggested about who the next crew member will be. We keep having Franky refs put up and having them removed because their speculations. This is to clear cut what is FAN SPECULATION and what Oda has let us know OFFICALLY about the next memeber. There are other reasons to... I can't be bothered to go into them though for now. Angel Emfrbl 21:15, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Someone should do lues for Paulie... Its obivous he isn't going to join but... With Oda you don't know whats going to happen sometimes. Angel Emfrbl 12:20, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Crew number???

It says as number of Crew Member 8. But it should be 6. Technically, Usopp isn't a Mugiwara until he comes back, and Franky isn't confirmed yet.

He came back, Franky joined. Is this section still needed? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.255.68.51 (talk) 13:13, 28 January 2007 (UTC).
You bothered to answer a question that was asked months ago before we knew Franky was confirmed joining and Usopp was coming back? O.o' Angel Emfrbl 13:31, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Franky info

Here we go... *Sigh*. We can't put him down with the straw hats until he says 'I'll be your nakama'. The best I could come up with to handle the info in the meantime was to add the 'next member clues'. Can we stop adding his job + dream info to the relative sections until he says those words... Write the clues but don't write the stats. Angel Emfrbl 21:22, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Not yet

He hasn't joined the Straw Hats yet... But a note to everyone: Is should do really soon. the enies Lobby Arc is over more or less. I know fingers are clicking to put it down, but wait a few more weeks until he says he'll join. Then we can add him.  ;) Angel Emfrbl 16:33, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Okay it seems Franky is NOW a offical Straw Hat. So we can add his stuff and all. Thats bound to make a few people who were edit-happy satisfied.  ;) Angel Emfrbl 19:02, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Where did you get this from? Any reference? - Tekoteko 10:17, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

He is not. It's pretty much garunteed, but Franky has yet to agree anything. I have no doubt he will join, but it is still possible he won't.

Right, as of chapter 436 he still has NOT decided to join the Straw-Hats. But 99% chance that he will soon. - Tekoteko 19:09, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

wanted crew

I was thinking we could add a section, on this page, where it listed the people luffy wanted to join. Like the bush man in a treasure chest, and the flower man who doctors labboon the whale. Also franky could go under that section.

He hasn't asked Franky yet, he did ask Iceburg though.81.227.104.220 16:52, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Franky hasn't been asked yet so isn't 'wanted' as such. Angel Emfrbl 17:39, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Former Strawhat Pirates should list Vivi

Shouldn't it? I don't want to get into an edit-war if she'd been removed for some reason, but she is a former Mugiwara.

Actually, Vivi is "technically" still a Mugiwara, just not traveling with the Mugiwaras. She and Gaimon are welcomed to join them anytime. At least that's what Luffy offered. Kljs 05:04, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
No one has replied, so I am editing. =P

Chopper's bounty

Its not 50 belli...

... Its more like 5,000,000. 50 was a error on a early translation. The same with Robin being written as 800,000,000 by accident. Angel Emfrbl 22:15, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Actually it is only 50 berry.--201.1.147.93 11:05, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Yeah I got fooled by a fake spoiler. Its the first time. I'm ticked off with fakes right now. Its getting out of hand. Why I've been making so much fuss about spoilers recently. Everyone more or less has been duped at least once by them. ¬_¬' Angel Emfrbl 13:59, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Usopp and Franky

Both are (currently) not SHs. Why are they in the bounty list? and Usopp on the current crew members list? Kurigiri 21:46, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Franky is a Straw Hat now but Usopp is in the bounty list since he's traveling with them and every acknowledges that he's part of the crew... I think. Xenero 02:09, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
As of chapter 435, Franky has not officially joined the crew, and Usopp never officially rejoined the crew. The bounty list was for Sogeking, not Usopp (kinda hard to structure the article this way). I say just wait till chapter 436 is out (very soon), and we'll get more answers. - Tekoteko 04:50, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Well then, as of now it will be removed until Usopp and Franky SAY, as in first person, that they join. Kurigiri 15:55, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Stop re-adding Usopp! he is not back on the crew yet! Kurigiri 07:38, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
Franky is now officially in the crew. - STAREYe 01:44, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Usopp has now rejoined! Now we can put him back on as one of the Straw Hats! Conanfan1412 05:34, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

GAHOOO Pirates

Are they from one of the movies, or is it pure vandlism? It seems to be the latter. I've yet to see movies 6-7 though, so I'm asking here. Kurigiri 18:09, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Their from the new intro... Crazy Rainbow Star or something [[1]]. Its the word 'GAHOO' written on their sail, but thats not ness. their name in my opinion. And I doubt the intros really count...

From an intro? are we that petty? I'm removing it. Kurigiri 18:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Statistics

Maybe we could change that to an infobox? We could use that on all of the crew articles. Kurigiri 10:47, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

So.. whadya think? Kurigiri 13:51, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
In the words of Franky "SUPA!". Angel Emfrbl 15:36, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

The New Member

The Straw Hats just got another new member, a getlemanly yet slightly perverted skeleton named Burukku (Brooke? Bloke?). Luffy asked, he accepted; thus, he is an official member. Belgium EO 01:05, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Its not as simple as that. We need more info. Its not like past members where we had a chapter build up to acceptance (like Zoro + Nami) or a whole arc (most of the crew). For all we know it could be a joke on Oda's part. Hell, we don't even know his personnelity yet aside from a few things. Angel Emfrbl 10:52, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
It is as simple as that. Luffy offered the position and Skele guy accepted. That we know nothing about him has zero relevance, he's still a part of the crew. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.11.228.141 (talk) 19:50, 25 January 2007 (UTC).
Actually, you will have to see the next chapter to confirm that, because it might be one of those "Yes" moment, then comes the "Just kidding." moment. Kljs 21:16, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
I think that Brooke(skeletons name) will join. When Luffy wants someone to join seriously, he asks them. Brooke accepted and so far he's a member. If he actually is, which will probably be explained in the next chapter, then this will be VERY interesting. Also, he might fulfill the position of musician. Desert Spada 21:36, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
What you think means nothing, Oda not you debates the storyline. We can't add on "I think". Also please remember this isnt' a forum - you can't discuss ideas and opinions here on the character. Angel Emfrbl 08:21, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Yeah and Franky's joining could be a joke too. We'll have to wait to the end of the manga to see if he will some time jump out to us and exclaim "Haha! Only joking!" so maybe we should hold off on putting him on the list. No, not really. Nobody had any troubles accepting Franky when he was asked and said yes. Brooke has also been asked and said yes, and while it's true he might be joking, he is currently part of the crew. Undeniably. If he was joking, take him down from the list just like anyone else who has left the crew (Usopp). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.11.228.141 (talk) 10:54, 26 January 2007 (UTC).
Franky is offical, Brook might be a joke. There is a difference in how its been handled. Right now as it stands we can't full accept him as a member until we know the details behind his joinment (beyond Luffy asking and him just saying yes). We need to know where he stands. Its not difficult to understand patience is one important factor to consider with wikipedia article editing, its better to wait and see before jumping to conclusions. REALLY! Angel Emfrbl 15:22, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Agree with Angel! Let's wait and see what will happen with Skelefro, and don't start an edit war. Cuttyflam 18:43, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Brooke is just as official as anyone else. It doesn't get more official than accepting an invite from the captain. Knowing "where he stands" is entirely irrelevant. How can you not see that anyone else might be as much a joke as Brooke? Where was the "oh no we have to wait" after Franky joined? As of now, Brooke's position as a straw hat pirate is official.

some one posted in this : His bounty is 39,000,000 and he is verey strong. its gone now but im wondering where they got this info from cause it wasent in the manga Rocks Lotus 11:42, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

We know nothing about him, which has been pointed out now atleast a couple of times. Nothing accept he has a skin fetish which Nami found out. ^-^' Angel Emfrbl 15:51, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Lol, it looks like judging from early spoilers, come the release date (Wednesday/Thursday) he'll be confirmed a member. Now if everyone can wait that long (not likely from past experience) we'll be able to update this page to include him without no problems. Then again, sometimes early spoilers lie, so until the confirmation we'll have to remove anything that goes on this page. Its a pain, but we had to do that with others so... Its no biggy. Waiting to confirm a One Piece character never killed anyone. :/ Angel Emfrbl 16:35, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Offical Word on Brook

Those of you who are saying Brook has offically joined are apparently wrong. In chapter 442 he isn't saying he will join, he is saying the idea of joining is a "splendid idea". Chapter 443 he formerly refuses to join. So thats the status of Brook as of the lastest chapter. I won't list any more details other then that because this is not the place for it. Angel Emfrbl 08:15, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

gaimon in recruitment

If we havee gaimon in recruitment i think we should have crocus in there as well, luffy asked him to be the doctor. If not there then temporary pirates, because he did help them. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.70.37.189 (talk) 18:36, 22 February 2007 (UTC).

We only need to give one example... Not list every single time Luffy asks a person to join. Besides, Gaimon was slightly different to Crocus. Gaimon actually showed emotion towards the rejection (he really appricated it) so I mentioned him in the article. He is a good example is he not of a typical Luffy nakama call? Angel Emfrbl 22:48, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

okay your right.Ctsrawhat910 14:56, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Crew Strength

It's got in here that the straw hats defeated 10000 marines. I did not think it was that many was it not more like 2000?

Whats The Deal?Rocks Lotus 00:14, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Hmm... Even if you include the BC marines, they only defeated about 200 of Smoker's (before promotion) ranking. And I recall there indeed was onl a couple of thousand Marines. Angel Emfrbl 06:59, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

there were only 6/7 thousand soldiers on enies lobby.Ctsrawhat910 13:32, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

No,from the episodes ive seen,it says "10000" as a total.

New Babylon 06:59, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Luffy single-handedly defeated a few thousand marines in Enies Lobby, and that wasn't even half of the amount of troops there, if I'm not mistaken.

speculations

Guys, guys. Can we please reframe from adding Brook as a speculated member. We don't have a crystal ball, we can predict the future. As I said with Franky, Wikipedia is a place for facts and not a place for "rumours" (speculations). Current we know Brook has declined joining, we can't do anything further then that. When he joins, we can write all about him then. Angel Emfrbl 07:53, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Bounties

Okay, there has been a disagreement about Nami's bounty and the total bounty for the Straw Hats. Regardless of what chapter 440 says, I have undeniable proof to be able to state my claim that Nami's bounty is 18,000,000 Belli and the total bounty is 669,000,050 Belli http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f304/RecklessFire2/?action=view&current=One_Piece-435-16-17.png

Well, first thing I WILL point out is those are translations.... The RAW version has more value as proof then a translation. Do you have the raw of those pages? Angel Emfrbl 07:07, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Not right now, but I can work on that. RecklessFire 13:40, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Former Crew Members

Will people stop putting Vivi in the Former Crew Members section? She never actually joined their crew. Gune 17:08, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm... She did mention them as nakama during the arc but that was more of a allied usage then a crew usage. And her final words were "will she still call me your nakama?" to the Straw Hats. Techincally she didn't join so isn't a crew but she could be considered an unoffical crewmember in some sense. Angel Emfrbl 08:20, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
I guess we should considerate her as a former crew member... whenever a front page story ends, Oda always draws a page of each strawhat, and there is always a Vivi's one. :P

Who removed Brooke from the major allies section...and why?Master Shan

The history page can reveal the one you seek. As for why? I don't know, I know I didn't remove him. I guess he was removed when the last person wrote him as a crew member already. Angel Emfrbl 19:58, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Some unregistered user, I say we put it back. If the frog from the last Arc is a major ally, then Brooke is as well.Master Shan

When are they offical...

Two things make it offical:

  1. When you've been asked and accept the invitation to join...
  2. When they're in a position that means they won't back from sailing away with the crew.

Brooke has done the first, but later declined. He has yet to even consider the second. Therefore Brook isn't offically a member yet. This is the same situation Franky was in. Don't jump the gun here folks, its not time yet. Vivi was also the same, she accepted the first right at the end of Alabasta, but declined on the second due to her country calling. Because she never did no.2 she is an ally and will remain it. Angel Emfrbl 23:31, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Comment on Luffy's bounty

I'm putting this on the talk page instead of simply adding it because I don't want anyone removing it afterwards. Pirates' bounties on One Piece increase not only based on their threat level to the government as seen by the government itself, but also as an indicator of the pirate's strength. So, as stated on Enel, referenced from volume 43, I consider notable adding that Luffy has defeated enemies with such a level that his bounty would certainly be much bigger than the current, should the World Government had knowledge about. I believe it's worth adding because it's certainly more relevant than the current last sentence on Luffy's bounty section regarding it's increase when he helps women of the crew(which i consider speculation/OR, and would have deleted together with the adding of this proposal). Paolobueno 23:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

In counter argument, Enel's bounty would be at least 500,000,000 because:
  1. He succeeded in destroying two islands (his home and the skpieans one)
  2. He over threw a ruling cast and made himself in charge
  3. Killed and punished people who stepped out of line
Not souly because of his strength alone. Considering 150,000,000 might have been just because he over threw the ruling cast (hey Croc's would have been about that if they had known about his involvment with BW), that leaves 350,000,000 to be sucked up by his other crimes. If you say destroying two islands is worthy of at least 150,000,000 each also, then he would have at least 50,000,000 left over. 50,000,000 = Enel's strength? Doesn't make him seem all high and mighty does it? And this is without counting the killing/punishing people, which although are minor in comparison, still might count.
Strength doesn't count as much as the crime, the bountys are calculated based souly on what the Navy knows. Kuro, Enel... They SHOULD have contributed towards Luffy's bounty, but don't because the WG doesn't know abotu their fights. Therefore, saying Luffy's bounty is a judge of his strength is false - there are at least people is isn't based upon so it cannot act as a true measure. Then there is the new fav. Chopper who has... A 50 beri bounty.
Incidently... There should be no statement there about it increasing after helping women, That counts as fan research kinda. I keep removing that. Who keeps putting that back? ^_- Angel Emfrbl 23:54, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Sephiroth BCR

I don't know what this guy is doing but he put up every single image on almost every single OP page for deletion. Can somebody fix this? This is ridiculous.Gune 21:31, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Its a automatic bot someone has created. Too much work... Nyah. If no one sorts it our by Thursday I'll do it. I kinda don't have time in the next two days. -_-' Angel Emfrbl 22:26, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
The wonder of Twinkle. It should be a obvious indicator. Go add fair use rationales and source information. It's not hard, get to it. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 05:43, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Or Maybe you shouldn't add deletions for something? Its none of your business. Most of those images you added for deletion are needed for the articles like the pictures of characters and flags. Gune 06:03, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

And it is my business that you are not following Wikipedia's fair use policy. You have more than enough time to add the relevant information. Simply because the images are "useful" or "necessary" does not mean you are excluded from following Wikipedia's policies. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 06:11, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Blindly deleting good and useful information doesn't show signs of a good user even if it falls under a Wikipedia policy Gune 12:39, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I don't care about images... But pages. I care about them. I always view that instead of deleting an article, why not *improve* it and make it per standard for wikipedia. Recently, the timeline page was put up. Are we not getting a little bit out of hand now? ^_- Angel Emfrbl 16:34, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Ever notice how we doesn't care what happens? After he tags the images, he doesn't pay attention to the article. Many times so far he has ruined the code by tagging the image (resulting in huge images) and just left it like that. Does he even look at what he edits? It tends to happen more when he does 15 edits in a row all within one minute. He is complaining about quality, but he sure isn't helping. The code may be minor and easy to fix, but why he won't take a minute out of his image tagging spree to fix his mistake is beyond me. --Superneoking 20:55, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Besides he could add them himself. Instead he just flags the images and stops other users from identifying vandals because of the long list of image edits. It wastes time for other users to go and fix instead of something he could have done himself. Gune 00:43, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

I complained about tagging so many images you can't see the vandals - he replied it was the fault of the editors who added the images and not his. He does not read One Piece nor is a fan. But even still, he does not take time to alert us to the errors left by other users so everyone can fix them, nor fix them himself. He fails to realise there is more then one approach to editing on wikipedia and after attempting to talk to him directly, its like walking into a brick wall... Thats how it felt. Angel Emfrbl 13:23, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

I would fix some of them but I'm not sure how to add the info to them. Can you help me? Gune 03:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

From memory they have to be a low res image (poor quality) and there is, in existance, some text we can add to make them legit. We used to have images WITH the text on (might still) but most were lost due to people replacing the legit images with our current problem images. I'll see if I can find one with it on.... Angel Emfrbl 07:21, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Ah! - here we go, an example of a template we can place on ALL images to make them legit. Just copy + paste it and alter it where ness. There is an alternative, without the template. But I found this first. But this will do until I find the other. :) Angel Emfrbl 07:25, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
And here is some example text for the same purpose (see Marines Jango for text), there is another I think because the text some images held orginally was much different. I'll look harder:

== Fair use for [[JangoMarine]] ==
The image linked here is claimed to be used under fair use as:

  1. it is of much lower resolution than the original
  2. the photo is only being used for informational purposes.
This was enough to prevent a certain person from tagging the image so... Yeah there you go. Angel Emfrbl 07:35, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I think I got it. Does that look right to you? I fixed the flag image. Gune 06:38, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Seems okay, one thing I do note:
When you remove the tag off the image for deletation on the page it is actually on, don't forget to remove "thumb". You need the title of the image and the size it is desired only, otherwise you get a frame around it. Angel Emfrbl 08:47, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Can somebody re upload Chopper's image? I thought a rationale was added already so I missed it. Gune 00:25, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

The Wikia has one but not the same image... any use? Angel Emfrbl 07:50, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

"Recruitment"

Is this section necessary? Or does it have to be so long? The "process" of recruitment in One Piece is just Oda's formulaic storytelling.

Besides, the proper "Meet the new guy ---> ask him in, he refuses ---> beat the bad guy (flashbacks) ---> the new guy joins" -process is only compeletely met in Zoro, Sanji and Chopper. That's less than half of the entire crew. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.250.246.11 (talk) 18:57, August 20, 2007 (UTC)

Shorten it so it is about the same length as the departure section... I actually meant to do things to this page concerning this sort of thing last weekend, however kinda forgot. Angel Emfrbl 08:03, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Fighting Styles

It looks horrible, and is written worse. There's no need to mention fighting styles on this page at any rate, thats what character pages are for. I'm removing them after a week if there's no discussion here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.2.240.63 (talk) 17:42, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

About Chopper's Rumble Ball use

Should it be added that he loses control of his transformations when he uses 2 within the 6 hour period as stated in the manga and anime? 69.242.60.103 02:51, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Rolling Pirates

Without them the straw hats may have lost, they are therefore major allies and someone who is a good writer should add them to the list of major allies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.91.219.99 (talk) 14:55, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Mr.2 a Straw hat?

Shouldn't Mr.2 be considered a temporary Straw-Hat? I think if Ace and Gan Fall are listed, he should be too.

What about Wiper? Most of the Straw Hat Pirates, like Chopper, Nami, Usopp, Zoro and Sanji, the current Straw Hat Pirates must defeat a "boss" while the future member-in-question defeat a "subordinate of the boss". Wiper defeated the "subordinate" [Shura] and help defeat the "boss" [Eneru]. Doesn't that consider him a temporary Straw Hat?

A request

Could someone list each of the crews battles in their article

A better idea would be a list of other pirate crews they have beaten rather then a long list of foes they have beaten.

They have defeated the former Captain Morgan. You forgot him.

Killing?

The Straw-hats don't kill after what I've seen but it says Zoro killed 100 or so Bounty Hunters at Whiskey Peak. Last time, it said Zoro killed Mr. 7 but that was wrong. What's up?

"Unlike Luffy and most of the other Strawhats, Zoro has been known to kill his opponents if he has to, though never in cold blood." From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roronoa_Zoro

Ya im pretty sure luffy killed arlong --Brodie11 /2007/ ya um i bont have one of those wikipedia names so i just made one up - Brodie11

Brook

I've read the latest chapter and brook still hasn't joined, I know it's obvious he's going to, but until he does, he doesn't belong on this page. (I knew someone would add him). if you really are killing to add to this page, add the rolling pirates to the list allies--71.184.128.210 (talk) 23:12, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

It is starting to annoy, if we include him BEFORE he joins, its speculation not fact which wikipedia is very against. Important note: if anyone sees the tags for Brook get removed - revert the edit until he joins!. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 12:14, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
please stop adding him, I'm not usre what you want want done with the page angel, so I'll leave it to you to remove him--71.184.128.210 (talk) 22:43, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
He has hide-text tags on his section, it makes his info invivisble on the page. Its obivous he will join, so when the time comes, we'll remove those very tags and let him remain on the page. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 23:33, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Skip that, someone has made me think twice about that idea, now Brook is removed until he joins and you all know who is the jerk responsible for that move - Ditch88 wikipedia is not a place for speculations! Brook joining is pure speculations until he joins! Angel Emfrbl (talk) 23:59, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Whether he's joined or not seems to be based on YOUR speculations and despite facts, until YOU feel he has joined, he wont be added. I find it funny that facts based on YOUR opinion are considered facts.
Ditch88 (talk) 00:47, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Nothing to do with my opinion at all, as I explained time and time again, he hasn't joined yet. Until he joins it is speculations, how many times will I explain this to you before you get it? I didn't decide this you know... We did the same thing for Franky. Its was obivous he was join 2 chapters before he did, but we kept him off the page until he joined. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 08:48, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I've already stopped arguing this point, but it seems you haven't. You can "explain" your point of view as many times as you want. Its not going to convince me. Ditch88 (talk) 09:36, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Apparently I am talking to a brick wall anyway so its of little use anyway. Incidently, I have yet to lay down supporting rules and guidelines for wikipedia and I will if it takes that. I don't like walking down that roadbecause it leds to further arguments. How disappointing, I was hoping to avoid this if I must, plus there is little you can do to stop anyone talking on wikipedia. If you do not want a reply, do not reply to that individual. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 10:08, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Until Brook has a speech bubble coming from his general mouth area, the contents of which say "I am joining your crew of pirates Monkey D. Luffy." or some derivation of that, then he is not a member of the crew. His last words in chapter 488 are "If you have truly been waiting for 50 years...Can you stand to wait another one or two?". That gives us nothing, for all we know he could join Laura's crew and sail to the end of Grand Line with them. He could fix Thriller Bark and sail it to the other side of Reverse Mountain by himself. He could run all the way there if it struck his fancy. So until the next chapter comes out and his membership is absolutely confirmed without any doubt whatsoever, Brook is not a Straw Hat. Stop disrupting the article please. Ark (talk) 12:44, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

It's official. Brook's the newest of the Straw Hats, according to chapter 489!! 128.205.224.102 (talk) 00:19, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Which hasn't been released yet and only spoilers are floating around. Spoilers leave out fine details - do not add Brook until we have those details please! Angel Emfrbl (talk) 00:21, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

The chapter is out as of a little over an hour ago. - STAREYe (talk) 16:41, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Crew by listing by position & nickname vs. just by name

All other pirate crews list their crewmembers by name, not position and nickname. Why is there a consistency to buck this trend with this particular crew? Shouldn't there be some degree of standardization across all crews? --BrokenSphereMsg me 00:08, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, the Straw Hats ARE the main characters, it makes sense that there would be more info about them. You could be right though, but I thought I should put that out there. - STAREYe (talk) 00:23, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

True, but it's inconsistent with the other listings. That info is also covered in the individual articles, and there is enough info out there for these characters to actually get their own vs. being part of a list. BrokenSphereMsg me 00:51, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Tilts head side-ways.
The Straw Hats... They were the first crew up here on wikipedia... I did the rest afterwards... And I did them differently... The Straw Hats were then matched to them.... But then they got altered over time until... Now they don't matching the others anymore. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 18:29, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
I've been trying to maintain the listing so that it's the same as the other crews, which it is now. I guess I'm looking for some consensus on how to present it so there isn't flipping back and forth between names and position/nickname/name format, with an eye towards consistency across all crews without appearing to unduly emphasize the listing for this particular one, main characters or not. BrokenSphereMsg me 18:41, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Are there any opinions on this; various editors keep adding in the positions and misc. info like the bounties. As I mentioned, I think consistency across the crew listings is good, and that information is already in the individual characters' articles. Adding it in is causing the article to not be in sync with all the other pirate crew articles. BrokenSphereMsg me 16:31, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't have an opinion too much, other then as the main crew I doubt they need to match the others. There is more info on them avilable after all. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 17:12, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
In taking a look at the other crews, they all list by name, but also have position and bounty if applicable in there as well before the descriptions. So that info could be added in here as well, while keeping the listing by name. That would then mean that this article now matches up with the others. BrokenSphereMsg me 17:28, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

new picture

with the addition of brook and the loss of sogeking, would the newest colorspread be acceptable as a replacement picture? I know it doesn't really fill the purpose as well as the current one, but it displays them better. Just tossing it out there.--72.74.96.19 (talk) 01:31, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

We shouldn't be using pics as decoration... I'm surpise that picture has been up this long to be honest. Also, colourspreads are nice but they are a bit big. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 00:07, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Until/Unless we get another picture that does the job so nicely (all of them neatly compacted together without much other content in the picture), it's probably best to leave it as it. - STAREYe (talk) 18:40, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I agree with that, the pictures perfect, except brook isn't there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ctstrawhat910 (talkcontribs) 18:56, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Whys that? I agree that the picture now will do, but if/when a better picture comes along that includes Brook, in all fairness it should be replaced with it. 134.121.250.173 (talk) 06:34, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Because pictures are not a ness. factor on wikipedia. Its mostly being used for decoration, which goes against wikipedias rules and guidelines. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 01:19, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Eh, it is a page about the Straw Hat Pirates. It makes perfect sense to have a picture of them on it. - STAREYe (talk) 16:40, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Apparently, you don't read... We DON'T need a picture on them. We do, because we just have it up and luckily, its not been taken down or put up for nomination on the basis of decoration. ^_- Angel Emfrbl (talk) 19:03, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
