Balkanski edit

Hi @Grnrchst, this edit introduced a ref error—two citations with the same name. Could you clarify in the text which Balkanski ref is which? You can rename one ref to 1982a and the other to 1982b. czar 00:25, 23 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Czar, thanks for bringing this to my attention. The citations were taken from the French language Wikipedia article, which is why they weren't specific to the book. I managed to go through one of the sources and provide inline citations from it, fixing one of the ref errors. The other one I had to leave as is, because I do not currently have access to the other source, so I can't confirm if it is indeed citing that one. I will need to look into this further. --Grnrchst (talk) 08:37, 23 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hey @Czar, I finally got around to taking a crack at expanding the article, hopefully I've not done too bad a job. Unfortunately I still haven't been able to get access to Balkanski 1982a, although I did manage to find a Google Books entry for it, which is something. Main citation issue with this article going forward will by Khadzhiev 1992. While there's no paginated copy of this in English, there is in Bulgarian and it has a Google Books entry, although it only allows for fragment viewing, which interferes with attempts to find specific page numbers. -- Grnrchst (talk) 15:25, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nice! I should be able to get Khadzhiev and I'll try my hand at getting Balkanski 1982a. Will keep you apprised! czar 20:26, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you come up empty on 1982a, I can call it at my library, just give me a shout. We have a book with slightly different bibliographic info in offsite storage, so I can't say for sure that we have it until I have it in my hands, but chances are low that it's a different book with the same title published in the same year. -- asilvering (talk) 21:53, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Czar; @Asilvering: Oh uh, I just found out that Georges Balkanski was Georgi Khadzhiev's pen name. This then puts me in an awkward situation, as I just realised that Balkanski 1982a might just the French language translation of the same text used as Khazhiev 1992... They have the same title and everything, I feel quite silly. -- Grnrchst (talk) 15:51, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
So Bulgarian sources refer to him as Khadzhiev and his pseudonym as being Balkanski[1][2] and the two are definitely connected on VIAF.[3] But even more confusingly, other English and French sources refer to his real name as "Georgi Grigoriev".[4][5][6] -- Grnrchst (talk) 16:12, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Since VIAF populates from... all kinds of weird places, I've mostly learned to ignore it tbh. For bonus fun, the book in my library that I assume is the same as your 1982a is by "Grigor Balkanski". -- asilvering (talk) 05:13, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
