Influence of "The Cold Equations" edit

The premise of the film is similar to The Cold Equations by Tom Godwin, and a few unofficially online forums have noted similarities."Anna Kendrick To Headline Sci-Fi Thriller STOWAWAY". I was unable to find any official documentation from the production company or director confirming that Godwin's work was an inspiration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.34.82.209 (talkcontribs) 01:59, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

There is the earlier The Stowaway (2014 film), which is based on The Cold Equations -- 67.70.27.246 (talk) 12:09, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
There is an even earlier short short by Arthur C. Clarke called Breaking Strain which explores a similar premise. It is difficult to believe that none of the authors of the works cited here were unaware of it. It is after all classic SF.81.140.178.58 (talk) 11:03, 5 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Misnomer edit

I don't know if it merits a mention in the article—but I can't be the only one , can I, who realizes this film's title is a misnomer?
According to Dictionary.com, a "stowaway" is "a person who hides aboard a [vehicle] in order to obtain free transportation or elude pursuers". That's obviously not the case here… Quite the contrary. – AndyFielding (talk) 07:31, 13 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
