NPOV edit

How is it biased? 24.12.99.174 05:03, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just went ahead and added an NPOV tag...this entire article seems very one-sided and biased...very prejudice perhaps? Jmlk17 09:45, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am amazed at the description or lack thereof for stone femme and stone butch....I placed a complaint to the support team and Lisa sent me here..My issue is that in the stone femme description it states:

Wikipedias Definition: Stone Femme has been used to describe several different kinds of femme (feminine) identities, usually within a broader Dyke identity or culture. People who identify as Stone Femme have patterned the name for their identity after the more widely known term "Stone Butch". A Stone Butch is a woman or Genderqueer person who is strongly masculine in character and dress, who tops her partners sexually (and sometimes emotionally), and who wishes not to be touched sexually. Stone Femme is used to describe a femme who bottoms sexually or who wishes not to touch the genitals of her Stone Butch partner. Some people have used the term Stone Femme to describe their identity as a strongly feminine person who tops sexually and wishes to not be touched, but this is much less common.

My main complaint is that not ALL stone butches id in female terms, and I have never used the term genderqueer/dyke or lesbian to coin myself....Many stone butches--including myself id in male pronouns....not "her" or "she", but "he" and "him", and most do not classify, consider or call themselves "lesbian". I was also told that the person I spoke with on the support team < Lisa > spoke to someone who is knowledgeable about gender issues and id's, and here is what Lisa wrote back to me.I did discuss this with one of our contributors who is knowledgeable about sexuality and gender issues. He said that he has met people who describe themselves as "stone butches", but who prefer "she". As is often the case, it seems there is some variety in preferences. "Ideally the definition/article should explain both sides of the issue, in a neutral fashion. Clearly it doesn't yet do this and needs improvement.

My question is---"how can "he" be so knowledgeable about the stone butch gender and stone butch identity, because he has spoken to some people? With all due respect, how about clarification from someone that id's as stone to give a description instead of someone that assumes they know the definition, if "he" isnt living it--then how can "he" possibly know?

"He" - that would be yours truly - knows about those things because he's active in the transmen movement and that includes quite some amount of communication with people coming from or identifying with the lesbian spectrum, including people who do or did identify as stone butches. Now, having said that, I have to ask you why you automatically assume that "he" is not living it - since you yourself say that there are stone butches out there which prefer to be called "he". But that question aside, there is no reason at all why a Stone Butch emself could not edit this article - in fact, it would be great if one did. Now, so far none has done so, and so we have to include what those who do edit the articles know. Further knowledge is always appreciated, and that is what the "edit this page" link is for - everybody can edit here; so if you have any corrections to make, make them. -- AlexR 08:20, 13 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

The definitions on Wikipedia in my opinion mislead and misrepresent the true definitions of stone butch/stone femme. What I also understand from the description is a lot of sexualization---and its definitely beyond topping or being a bottom--.

I hope that the person who wrote the definitions for this site will reconstruct the definitions, because they are inaccurate as well as misleading to those that may be in question of their own identity...

Regards, Tyler

"He"< Alex > thank you..I appreciate you getting back to this....I did not automatically assume anything. My point is that not everyone id's in the same way-its a large spectrum to say the very least-- the original description used "she and her"...I have since added a small blurb in the description before reading this.

- Can you explain the intention behind adding the "(and sometimes emotionally)" reference to this description: A stone butch is a woman or genderqueer person who is strongly masculine in character and dress, who tops her partners sexually (and sometimes emotionally), and who does not wish to be touched genitally. Although it is in my opinion a very subjective comment, I am really curious what the author was getting at...please explain and/or remove. thanks --- Maggie-Q

NEW NOTE Note on 6/8/2020 I strongly object to the Stone Femme page being removed and relocated to the Stone Butch page. Stone Femmes are individuals who are invisible and not at all related to stone butches unless partnered to those people. They may or may not be partnered with stone butches. Stone femmes have their own boundaries, history, and sexuality. Deleting a page further creates a misunderstanding in the LGBTQ community that all stone femmes are invisible and unimportant. Please reconsider this unnecessary deletion. I will update and maintain the page with fresh citations and research and have already done so. Edits edit

I took out a lot of the personal information provided by the last editor: this is an encyclopedia, not a forum to point out what you identify yourself as. I pulled out some information, including this text regarding Stone butch's not liking to have their genitals touched (actually, looking back, I don't know which identity this paragraph was speaking of, but I took it out because it appeared to be a critique of a previous edit without including it into the article and seemed too personal, but maybe it's just me):

...in traditional ways; they are not comfortable with the plumbing they were born with and having another sexually stimulate theier genitals would only amplify their pain. BUT, in no way does this mean that they don't get orgasms or'get off'. With the right partner, a Stone Butch can experience exhilaration and orgasm just by knowing that they are taking their partner so far into euphoria -- her reactions and reception are their elixir. Also, if a strapped-on butch cock is set right, it can hit the clitoris while they are penetrating their partner.

I suppose that information belongs somewhere in the article, but exactly where and how to get it there I don't know. I don't have a lot of knowledge on this subject; I made my way here through research. Just in general, the original article was confusing and much too personal. I think there should be some type of clear definition between stone butch and stone femme because it seems to say that they are the same thing, but then both articles point out the differences between them. Perhaps, I just read the article wrong. Generally, the former second section looked like an attack on a previous editor. If someone who has more knowledge on the subject would like to do a complete overhaul of this article (without providing personal and NPOV information), that would probably be help to all Wikipedia users. Oh, my God....I've been so blinded to the "Gay Community" and the definitions it prides itself on...why does it have to be so complicated...ACK! CSI_Femme4Butch65.175.194.136 13:12, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
