It would be easy to rename this structure stereovilli (the structure, not the wikipedia page) with no confusion regarding the transition, and would make understanding the structure and nature of the extended and anastomosing microvilli much more obvious. Sovbeos (talk) 20:50, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Confusing intro?

Contrary information

From epididymis article: The epididymis possesses numerous, long atypical microvilli. These processes are often called stereocillia; this is incorrect, as they neither contain the microtubular structures of cilia nor function like cilia. 194.88.158.170 (talk) 15:03, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

The article states clearly the difference between cilia and stereocilia. The name is similar but the structure is different. They are not cilia (despite their name) but they are similar to microvilli. The problem is just the name; it contains "cilia" as a part of the name (stereocilia) because originally they were given that name. And there are a lot of sources referring to stereocilia in the epididymis. They are also called stereovilli.Miguelferig (talk) 13:19, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
