Kuban is main river of North Caucasus, species former area was from Black to Caspian see. Kuban river is on a half way --Bogomolov.PL (talk) 18:53, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, cubanensis definitely refers to river Kuban. Szabi (talk) 11:13, 18 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
And one more possible: Exists tradition to use in latin nomeclature locality (region) ancient names. Daghestan and North Caspian coast of Azerbaijan medieval name was Kuba khanate (it is town in North Azerbaijan with this name). So no relation to Cuba and Castro. "pri-Ural" and "pri-Caspian" seem to be partial translations from Russian (as in приуральский район, etc.). The prefix "pri-" is meaningless in English. Should be corrected. Szabi (talk) 11:10, 18 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

The text says that C. l. campestris happens "occasionally" in the steppes of Romania, while the map shows it happening in the mountains of Romania, not in the steppes. The text for C. l. lupus says that Romania has a large population, which happens mostly in the mountains. Someone should change the maps.
