Is he really Jewish?

edit

In one of his songs he implies he is Jewish. Was it just a part of the joke, or is he really Jewish? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.90.125.101 (talk) 20:18, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Uhm, it was a part of a joke. Most, if not all of his material, has nothing to do with his real life. Ran4 (talk) 19:35, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lynch Lives in Brooklyn, not Manhattan

edit

Everybody, just keep an eye on the article because this has been nonsensically changed several times, even though all sources state that Lynch lives in Brooklyn. He also owns a house in Michigan, but last I checked he does not own anything in Manhattan and his primary residence is in Brooklyn, New York. Thanks! 24.161.43.168 02:52, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's nice, but a citation would be useful... Tomertalk 03:27, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Major Overhaul

edit

Well, I consider it a major overhaul. There wasn't much wrong with it, just thought it could use a little better organization. I don't care for how I've set up the Discography/Videography, so if there is a better way to do it - go for it. I think I'd be nice to keep album covers and basic info, maybe a different format (I just stole the template from some band).

I also added an album template to each album. It'd be great if we could get more info for each album. I still don't quite get all the citing and sources of anything, so if I need cites/sources somewhere, please add them. I think the reference cleanup still needs to happen :).

Hope I've done well! MorseMoose 01:14, 4 June 2007 (UTC)MorseMooseReply

References, cleanup

edit

"His second official album, Superhero, released in 2002, was also a live album, and generally received better reviews than the first, partly because of strong audience response." Things like this need citation or need to be removed. Encyclopedias are factual, and unless you can provide some references to show that the album was better received and why, you can't put things like that in the article.

"Considering himself a musician first and a comedian second " source? these need to be cited in text. There are lots of references and such at the bottom, but they need to be paired up.

"Family and friends prove to be an important influence on Lynch's work and career" " He trusts so deeply in her taste that if she doesn't laugh at the initial concept, he will scrap the idea completely"

etc..etc.. Its a nice article, would make a great biography or column, as its written it doesn't have much encyclopedic value because nothing is sourced and there is some subjective writing. This needs massive clean-up. --Crossmr 20:21, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Looks good. I removed the cleanup tag. This article is a lot more useful now. It wasn't a slight against the information, but a lot of it "sounded" unencyclopedic and when that is the case, we need these citations for reference. --Crossmr 16:18, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
I went through all the references and changed them to Cite.php format. If you change them back, I will be quite upset. 66.229.160.94 23:42, 9 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism

edit

"It has recently been confirmed that Stephen Lynch has been dating Neil Patrick Harris for the past 5 years. Stephen Lynch is married however Stephen Lynch considers himself bi-sexual."

Is there any proof for this? Adam

No way. I'm a huge fan, so I'm 99.9% sure that it's vandalism (and the .1 only exists to avoid a lawsuit if I missed the boat and it's actually true--even though it's not. ;) ).

neutral tone of text

edit

There's a lot of superlatives and glowing praise in this article, which should probably be toned down or reworded as quotes from critics/interviews. This is not a fan site. 64.126.24.12 16:41, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I disagree completely. There's no glowing praise anywhere that isn't a statement of fact (i.e., the tour with Hedberg was so successful that they added an extra leg). The article was rated B class, as well, so that's a pretty good rating for an article that's supposedly biased.

Fair use rationale for Image:Superhero SLynch.jpg

edit

Image:Superhero SLynch.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Divorce?

edit

Does anyone know anything about this supposed divorce, as per a recent edit? There's no source, his MySpace page still indicates that he's married, as does his IMDb page, and there's nothing that I can see on his official website. A quick Google search brought up no articles. Are we sure this actually happened? Layla12275 08:34, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Before performing his song "Lullaby" ("...that's why your mommy left us...") live, Stephen references his "recent divorce" as inspiration for the song. I do not believe he is being serious when he says this; it's most likely just a part of the live version of the song. Someone apparently could not see through the façade. :) --Simply Agrestic (talk) 17:32, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

General tone

edit

There's a lot of emphasis on trivia and personal details, as well as a continued reliance on superlative terms, which make this article sound fannish. I've tagged the article with {{fansite}} and reduced the article class to start. This article cries out for a dispassionate rewrite. --SSBohio 02:18, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Another issue on tone of article: Lynch's work is actually quite blue in many cases. The article intro notes that he mocks popular culture, true. However, that's a far cry from some of his more extreme songs dealing with religion and the Special Olympics, to name a few. I understand the libel issue with living performers is a thorny one, but the article at present doesn't even provide a real hint as to the content of some of his work, which is rather misleading. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.246.116.3 (talk) 17:48, 2 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

His brother didn't get 2nd place on season 10 of America's Got Talent

edit

Drew Lynch (the season 10 runner up) states on his website that he is not Stephen Lynch's brother.

^This. When is somebody going to change the disinformation? This article states in "Personal life" "Lynch has a younger brother, Drew, who is also a stand-up comedian (known for his stutter) and won second place on Season 10 of America's Got Talent" Anyone who's not just a fan in passing of Stephen Lynch has seen his brother Drew during the "Live at the El Ray" show. It's all over YouTube. Just take a good long look at Stephen's brother Drew, and then Google the stuttering comedian Drew. They are two completely different people. 2605:6000:6D88:3E00:7C1F:D610:64D5:7C1B (talk) 18:11, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
