There, I completely changed this page. The previous page was skewed; besides giving an inadequate "false cognate" type definition of the phrase (status for status, and 'of the question' for quaestionis), the first paragraph weirdly and vaguely related the idea to "liberal education" and the second paragraph, giving an example of the phrase in use, concerned what a "status quaestionis" might be in regards to evolutionary science, and suggesting that the state of the investigation of that topic might include intelligent design, etc. Such tenuous speculation, besides being irrelevant to the task of providing accurate information about the meaning and use of a Latin phrase, would not in any case be appropriate for an encyclopedia entry, and violates Wikipedia's policy on original "research." What was called for was a simple (and correct) translation and a brief explanation of the lexicography of the phrase, which I tried to provide, although I was not able to provide a proper citation nor to complete obvious side projects like adding this to the page listing Latin phrases, etc. Matthew Baldwin (talk) 04:58, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
