Trivia

Moved from article. Source this and incorporate it. John Reaves (talk) 04:00, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I grew up in Statesville (and my parents still reside there). I'm not familiar with either of the nicknames listed under "trivia", so I have some doubts as to how widespread they may be. Gunnk 20:49, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

History

edit

I added the information about the role of Statesville as NC capital during the Civil War. The Zebulon Vance House is now run as a museum by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. A national historic marker exists outside the house that also records these facts, and a good number of sites also document the events. I wanted to link to the National Register of Historic Places, but their database is currently down.Gunnk 20:49, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Demographics

edit

Hey - Someone has offensively edited the section on demographics and used slurs and racial epithets to denote various groups of people - can anyone fix it to the correct stats and information? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.75.87.50 (talk) 16:37, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Historical Schools

edit

Morning Side School was for blacks. Lewis Houston was the sole bus for black kids in the late 60s early 70s. Blacks had to enter the Playhouse theater on the side and sit up stairs. Biggest Junior High Football games was D. Matt Thompson (Now Mitchell Community College Continuing Education Center) and Oakwood Junior High (now Statesville Middle School).
