More than a few of my photographs of the St Kilda archipeligo , including Levenish, have been lifted from Geograph and posted on Wikipedia without acknowledgement.

They have then been posted from here to Google Earth, again without acknowledgement.

The conditions of Geograph picture usage, under the Creative Commons licence, include attribution of all photographs. I am more than happy for the photos to be used but credit where credit is due !

I would be grateful if someone would do this here as I am unable to.

First of all, this is a wonderful picture and I am grateful that Wikipedia has access to it. The specifics of crediting photographs on Wikipedia is not my area of expertise, however I can say that on one or two occasions when I have put a specific credit for a Geograph photographer on an image description in an article, a reviewer has removed this on the grounds that the accreditation is already there on "Commons" where the image is stored. If you double click on the image in the article you can immediately see that the accreditation does exist. I am not in a position to make any comment about Google Earth. If this is not a satisfactory explanation from your point of view, please respond here and I will see if I can find a more knowledgeable editor to comment in more detail. Also, no expert, but have worked with commons images a bit. The source does not usually appear in an article. All the correct information was copied to commons at the original upload. I have tidied the template, so more of it appears clearly. I've left the duplicate licence info - a feature of the Geograph template. Thanks again for sharing this picture. Hi Stephen, all geograph attributions can be found at the individual picture's page, which is on wikimedia commons. This is in line with the CC licence. All the best. --MacRusgail (talk) 20:49, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
