land area

edit

According to the Census website, zip code 20602 is much larger than the ~11 square miles mentioned in this topic (which by the way does not provide a WP:RS). The topic goes on to state that 20603 also is almost all part of this topic. The Census also does not refer to either as "St. Charles". The lack of WP:RS for these is mentioned in the lede. TEDickey, The area was for the 2000 census only. St. Charles wasn't delineated separately in 2010. To add, CDP boundaries don't coincide with ZIP Code boundaries. You can delete it if you wish. --66.133.26.194 (talk) 02:21, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

New Town funding

edit

According to various sources, St. Charles was one of about a dozen planned towns/cities that received funding through the List of planned cities#New communities sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development after 1970. This 1983 Washington Post article mentions this aspect of St. Charles: "In St. Charles, Md., for example, the developer had to sell roughly 200 lots for single family homes just to pay the annual interest on $38 million in debt. It took sales of another 100 or so lots per year just to meet operating costs." I hope to find out more about this and eventually have a section in this article on that aspect of St. Charles.
