Japanese air "regiments" edit
I removed this example, because it is not relevant — an air regiment (Sentai in this case) is a larger unit. Also, there is no agreed way to translate Sentai in English and it can also be rendered as "group, "wing" and other terms. Grant | Talk 13:21, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Number of aircraft edit
It would be helpful if this article had both a force identifier and a time period in a table. Also, Squadron (military unit) makes more sense). Example: RAAF

- Wikipedia has the Squadron article. It is a disambiguation page, because of Interwiki problems. A squadron of aircraft, battleships and tanks are often translated to different words in other languages. There was a terrible mess some years ago; because bots had some kind of edit war.

Rank of a Squadron Commander edit

- "In the (US) Air Force, a squadron commander is generally in the rank of Lt Col (O-5), although smaller squadrons may be commanded by majors, captains, and sometimes even lieutenants." from Air Force Organizational Structure
- In World War One a squadron commander in the Royal Flying Corps was usually a major, that's why RAF's rank Squadron Leader is equivalent to a major. In the Royal Naval Air Service a squadron commander usually had the rank of Squadron Commander (a Lieutenant Commander), also equivalent to a major. The US Aviation Section only had a lieutenant as a squadron commander. The German Luftstreitkräfte had Staffeln with 9 aircraft, and a Leutnant or Oberleutnant ('first lieutenant') as commander.
