High School?

Wasn't SHC originally a high school? If so, when did it become a college? And the Jimmy Buffett thing really doesn't apply to the college. Maybe if there were a separate thing for St. Joseph's, and in a decade, maybe that will be feasible, but for now, it really doesn't fit. 68.63.58.122 08:15, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

spring hill was founded in 1830, however it was officially recognized as a college in 1836.

removed section about Wikipedians

I've removed the section "Spring Hill Wiki Contributors" because it doesn't fit our encyclopedic style. You may want to create a user category for yourselves, like Category:Wikipedians from Spring Hill College. This is the usual way to organize groups of Wikipedia users. Thanks! I stumbled across this and thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. Jimmy Buffett was indeed a student at SHC (I'm pretty sure you have to have been to get married at St Joseph's (at least one of you has to have gone there)).

Not true. Buffett went to Auburn and Southern Miss, not SHC. His wife was a Badger though. The bit on Buffett should probably be removed; alums generally don't view Buffett as connected to SHC. NickDupree (talk) 12:30, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

This is ambiguous - did he gradutate in September, October or November? This would be clearer if it gave a more precise date, or a month name. "Spring" is a local season, not a universal time, and should not be used as a universal description of the time. --B.d.mills 07:15, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

1. Spring consists of March, April, and May.
2. "Spring" is one of two possible times to graduate -- the other is "Fall". The actual month is of no consequence -- there is only one spring commencement per year. Has nothing to do with the season.

Oswald speech date

I was double checking an edit a user gave in changing the date of Oswald's speech at SHC from '62 to '63, to make sure it wasn't just vandalism, since no sources were given. I found [1] which verifies the speech was on 27 July 1963, so the change is correct. Interestingly, that page also includes info on what he talked about during the speech. — Eric Herboso 19:58, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Adding Academic Information

I would like to add a section mentioning a quick rundown of undergraduate and graduate fields of studies, and maybe even a section about social clubs at the school. As an alumna, I take pride in the various facets that play a part in educating the mind, body, and soul of a student at Spring Hill College. I'm not sure the statement has to be in here.

The Confederacy had lost heart during the final year of the war. There were no birth certificates back then. Recruiters came with a pole. If you were taller than the pole, you were in, nevermind "age." People did not carefully track ages back then. 16 was plenty old.

Are you disagreeing with the references? Are they not WP:RELY?

Generally names should be notable, See WP:NN. If they aren't, they usually shouldn't be used unless intimately involved with the college. Student7 (talk) 00:00, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Whenever using external web-links to refer to the Spring Hill College web-site, always use www.shc.edu -NOT- shc.edu

If you leave off the "www", then you get portions of Spring Hill's campus news section, which may or may not have proper links back to the main sections of the Spring Hill college web-site, apparently because leaving off the "www" causes some links not to appear correctly.

Incidentally, the home page of the Spring Hill College web-news section should always be linked to with www.shc.edu/news

Alumni Page

Rather than have a exhaustive list take up so much space as is currently the case, I suggest that the Alumni section be moved to its own page - "List of prominent Spring Hill College alumni" or something like that.
