I don't feel that the large list of further reading is particularly helpful here, especially as there is very little information in the article proper. I would prefer to see it summarized and reduced. I will attempt to do this in the next while to make the information easier to access.Finaira1 (talk) 03:38, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

A bit of information I have not seen on line is that Sprague's Pipit is named after Roderick (Rod) Sprague the 2nd, Father of Roderick (Rick) Sprague the 3rd. Rod Sprague was a botanist and plant pathologist and a keen observer of nature who was living in Mandan North Dakota at the time. He observed a bird not in his field guide, so he brought it to the attention of ornithology. Being the first person to bring the bird to the attention of science, it was naturally named after him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.37.199.68 (talk) 22:55, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I think that the list of references is very useful for students and others going here to find information. The next update, I will include information about Sprague, as suggested. Wrenhawk (talk) 23:07, 20 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
