table the info?
editPerhaps put the information into a table similar to how we have the List of incorporated places in New York's Capital District and Media in New York's Capital District? We could have name, sport, year established, venue, and affiliation (for the minor league teams), and year disbanded for those that are defunct. I can do a mock-up if others agree that it would be a cleaner way to organize this article.Camelbinky (talk) 20:47, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Updates
editI added Union College. The article should include all Capital District colleges: RPI, Skidmore, maybe the community colleges. I'd also like to see a section on facilities listing major sports venues in addition to the T-U center (whatever it's called today): Achilles Rink, RPI fieldhouse, Joe Bruno Stadium, etc. Peter Flass (talk) 19:55, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
Drawing the line
editWhere should the line be drawn on "sports?" My feeling is that is should be limited to team sports at college-level and above. This would rule out golf and horse-racing, high school sports, and maybe two-year colleges. Geographically Glens Falls should probably be included. Besides the people mentioned, maybe a list of significant sports figures (golfers allowed, Dottie Pepper?) Olympians, etc.Peter Flass (talk) 23:15, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
- I broke my own suggestion and added a para on the Saratoga Race Course. Peter Flass (talk) 21:58, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
References
editI added a lot of material. Since much of this is "list-type" information, with the text mostly adapted from the articles linked, I didn't try to supply a whole bunch of additional references. Peter Flass (talk) 14:53, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
