Hi I am doing a history project for a class on the history of relations between Latin America and the United States. I would like to see more of an in-depth look at why the Dominicans played baseball Jmpfer04 (talk) 17:02, 7 February 2017 (UTC)jmpfer04

Hi Jeremy!! You're article has a lot going for you and is very informative and interesting. There are only a few edits that I suggest you making. 1. Is there a Wikipedia link to Licey? Maybe because I don't understand baseball, is that a reference? A person? Movie? Double check that! 2. Dominican Daddy needs before and after it. 3. Are there maybe 2-3 pictures you would want to incorporate into the article? I think it would be really cool if you did! 4. I think 'Other Sports' could be titled differently because it's really about athletes in other sports!

Overall, really nice job!

Also, I would like to see more of how sports in the Dominican Republic helped or harmed the relations between the Dominican Republic and the United States Jmpfer04 (talk) 17:02, 7 February 2017 (UTC)jmpfer04

Well done list of sources: good suggestions that meet the Wikipedia community standards for reliable sources of evidence. Katherine.Holt (talk) 01:26, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

The article is about sports in the Dominican Republic and will specifically focus on the sports of baseball and volleyball and will also take a look at the Dominican Republic's role in the Pan-American Games and the Olympics. The baseball section of the article will include the history of the sport in the Dominican Republic and how the sport rose to national prominence. The time period will take place from 1916-2017 because the sport first came to the island in 1916. Baseball rose to prominence in the Dominican Republic because it gave the Dominicans a chance to beat the Americans. However, through the years the game of baseball helped improve relations between the Dominican Republic and the United States as many players began going to the U.S. to play professionally and Major League Baseball began building baseball schools and facilities for young kids in the Dominican Republic. The players on the island had a natural feel for the game of baseball and therefore, Major League Baseball began recruiting players from the island as they wanted to diversify the sport and expand the sport's borders. In addition, the section will include the history behind the Dominican Republic at the World Baseball Classic. Likewise, the volleyball section of the article will include the history of how the sport began gaining popularity and how it came to the island. In addition, the section will include some of the professional volleyball players from the Dominican that are playing in other countries around the world. The Olympics section of the article will include the history of the country at the Olympic games. The section will include the years between 1964 and 2017. Also, it will include some of the famous Olympians that have participated for the Dominican Republic and it will include a list of the athletes who have medaled at the Olympics for the island. Likewise, the Pan-American games section will also include a list of the athletes who have medaled at the games and the history behind the participation of the Dominican Republic at the Pan-American games. This is an important article that will really benefit from further development. As you think about structure/heading organization, you might look at similar Wikipedia entries like Sport_in_Cuba or Sports_in_the_United_States.

Hey JMPFER! Good job so far with your article. You have a lot of great information. One suggestion I have for is to try and find some other Wikipedia pages to link to some of your phrases, words, or people. For example, you mention a number of baseball teams, and baseball players that may have their own Wikipedia pages. Think about linking that page to you mentioning the name in your article. This will increase the cohesiveness between information that coincides with your article! Other than that just make sure to re-read and think about how you are wording things to make sure they match up with Wikipedia guidelines. Good job and I am excited to be working with you.
