Music of SpongeBob SquarePants

Hey everyone, I created a page called Music of SpongeBob SquarePants. I suggest that the section entitled "Music" on this page be linked to that page, as it currently has more info and allows for more room to add more without cluttering up the main SpongeBob article. It's similar to the Music of Ren and Stimpy page. Sb2007 20:40, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

What about the steel guitars that form so much of the musical background to the show? I can't find out who does them, though i believe it is a Hawaiian Steel Guitar. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.2.153.20 (talk) 17:27, 30 April 2007 (UTC).

Cultural References

I think this is getting pretty ridiculous. It's like making a "Cultural References" section in the Star Wars article: Pretty much everybody in the freaking universe has done a parody by now. I think either this big novelty collection of all 9,000 of the shows that have hinted at or spoofed the show should be scrapped, or we make a "Cultural References to SpongeBob Squarepants" article. I support the former suggestion, becuase if we make a new references article, all the article would be is way too many examples without a explanation or introduction. Sorry to get all worked up. I'll be quiet now. 71.199.25.62 23:31, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Merge

The SpongeBob SquarePants controversy article is going no where, and the content of it is somewhat limited, though most of the controversy has been covered. I propose that it be merged into this article for this reason. --DarkAdonis255 14:33, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

I agree, what's the point of making such a small page with text that takes less than five minutes to read? TheBlazikenMaster 18:15, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
I agree too. It was orignally moved there because it's length was very long. -AMK152(TalkContributionsSend message) 19:08, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

?

I don't know what this has to do with the article but it's a cartoon. And cartoons don't have to be one hundred percent realistic. TheBlazikenMaster 08:49, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Why can't the fact about real-life sequences be part of the trivia?

  Resolved

The last remove was just "rmv". Is that specific? No. I need to know why it's unnecessery. This is not common on most cartoons. Because most cartoons have no real-life sequences whatsoever. In some episodes there is some, but that's rarily in most cartoons, and it's called another demension.

So I wanna ask why can't the real-life sequences thing be part of the trivia? Knowing that could interest some people that know nothing of SpongeBob. After all WikiPedia is to seek knowledge, and make it clear to people that don't know what the thing is. TheBlazikenMaster 20:32, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about bumping this, but I wanna know. TheBlazikenMaster 19:44, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
C'mon, I really want an answer. TheBlazikenMaster 09:49, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
I still don't get it. Sorry about bumping this. I really want to know. I mean almost every episode has it. By the time it was removed, there was NO REASON, neither has there been any reason of previous removals of this trivia. TheBlazikenMaster 11:48, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
There is no bumping happening here. This isn't a forum thread. 152.23.196.162 13:21, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
I'm NOT foruming. I'm talking about the trivia in this article. I need to know why the trivia "There are often real-life sequences" isn't allowed. I'm NOT foruming. I'm talking about the article. I wanna know a good reason why it was removed. What gives you the idea I'm foruming? Because I'm not. TheBlazikenMaster 15:23, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
What is the point of bumping something that doesn't rise to the top when you post. ALso, who cares about you "real-life sequences". What would you want the trivia section to say about it?
You're right. I see it now. Something common in a cartoon would belong more in a long text rather than trivia. I apologise to everyone. Feel free to archive this discussion if you want, it's closed anyway. TheBlazikenMaster 01:26, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Vandalsim

Just wanted to tell users that the page as been vandalised already 4 times today.Themasterofwiki 17:37, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

The page has been vandalized again. Someone put up inappropriate language below the history of Spongebob. It is noticeable.

Well, I noticed the bullshit involving Abraham Linceln and Saddam Hussein. Maybe it's time to protect the page. By the way, what's the easiest to remember shortcut to requests to protecting page link? TheBlazikenMaster 01:16, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

It already is in the SpongeBob category, which is the subcategory of nicktoons, which is subcategory of Nickelodeon shows, so there is no need. TheBlazikenMaster 16:06, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Decline In Quality

I think there're plenty of people out there voicing their dissatisfaction with the current quality (really, post season-4) of this show. Should this perhaps be mentioned in the article (as the perception of decline in the quality of "Simpsons" episodes is mentioned in its article)?

  • I agree with you, but AMK152 is right. You need some sources. Maybe like a third-party forum or message board. Geosultan4 03:54, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
  • Message boards won't do, because there people voice their opinions. And there are a lot of endless discussions on message boards. So I'm afraid it won't do. TheBlazikenMaster 14:02, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Maybe http://www.jumptheshark.com/topic/Spongebob-Squarepants/Spongebob-Squarepants-General-Comments/1848&start=0? Many people (myself included) feel that the movie/season 4 ruined the show, it lost all of its humor and became way too childish, not to mention Tom Kenny changed spongebob's voice to make it more childish. I believe this is worth mentioning in the article, as nearly all Spongebob fans feel the 2 most recent seasons are quite unacceptable. (Sorry I don't have a wikipedia account, I'm just suggesting because I use this site daily) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.187.171.32 (talk) 00:33, August 29, 2007 (UTC)

Theme song was on Weird Al Yankovic album

I see someone erased my bit about Weird Al singing the theme song, and states instead that the song may be commonly credited to Weird Al, but its actually done by someone else. That is odd. Because the television show sounds like him, and he sings that song on his album Running with Scissors which I happen to own. Perhaps someone else did it for the movie? Anyone ever watch the ending credits of the cartoon to confirm who sings it? Dream Focus 03:58, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

That album has no Spongebob track on it. It was released in 1999. It does have the theme for the Weird Al Show, but that's hardly the same thing.Ianzu 21:12, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

SpongeBob SquarePants in popular culture

NOTE: You can't vote anymore, see final results mini-section. The current results are:

Supporters: 2
Opposers: 0

(The article will be made on May 10th, 2007 if I get more supporters than opposers.)

I was thinking about making an article with that name, since the deleted section had so many things, but first I need supporters or people that oppose. Please tell me if you think this is a good idea, or bad idea. Yeah, what do you think about this idea? TheBlazikenMaster 20:28, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

  • I strongly agree with the idea. I think it would be a great idea to include the pop culture references in one article as SpongeBob is a popular show. However, I have a feeling that people will disagree. I hope that this idea will go through. -AMK152(TalkContributionsSend message) 20:54, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
By the way, if I get more supporters than people that disagree by the time it's May the 10th, I will make the article. If I don't, too bad. I put a list at the top of this section. TheBlazikenMaster 21:13, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
I'll announce it in the May 2007 newsletter for WP:SBSP. -AMK152(TalkContributionsSend message) 11:33, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Great idea, I'm not gonna join that WikiProject, I'm not big enough fan of SpongeBob to do that. TheBlazikenMaster 11:41, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

LGBT WikiProject

  Resolved

Why is this article in the LGBT WikiProject. Spongebob Squarepants the television series has nothing to do with LGBT. I move to remove this article from the LGBT WikiProject

Bovineboy2008 00:48, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

I did remove this, but I got some complaint on my talk page. Click here. TheBlazikenMaster 17:01, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
It should really be removed. Stephen Hillenburg even said that SpongeBob is not gay. Can't people tell the difference between immaturity and homosexuality? -AMK152(TalkContributionsSend message) 22:01, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Being in the LGBT Project doesn't mean that SpongeBob identifies. I added it because it's of interest to the LGBT community that conservative groups accused SpongeBob of being coded pro-gay propaganda. I see that someone erased the section about that controversy from the article, so I suppose you can erase the LGBT Project, too. Queerudite 22:42, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Fine I will. It isn't big part, wikiprojects should only be used if the person/thing or whatever the article is about, are big part of it. You can't imagine how many articles would be part of BBC WikiProject, if every single subject that got into the BBC news would be part of that project. So it's agreed, glad we could agree on this without problems. TheBlazikenMaster 16:19, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Grammar and Capitalisation

2nd paragraph under "Setting" looks weird. Unnecessary capital letters and grammar mistakes, such as "Giving the fact..." a few lines down, make this hard to read. (I'm new to Wikipedia so I'm finding out more on editing first before doing anything else.) Singyouranthem 10:38, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah there are too many non-name caps. I agree, it's clearly unnecessery. So I'm fixing it now. TheBlazikenMaster 12:50, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

What Happened To All The Episodes?

All the episodes are gone was it vandalsim? Or were they deleted for some reason? Also some of the charaters profiles have changed too. Leiaro 21:01, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Who voices SpongeBob SquarePants in the Japanese dub of the TV series?

That kinda information doesn't belong to the English Wikipedia. But you could use Google Translator to autotranslate the the Japanese version of the page if you'd like. TheBlazikenMaster 16:00, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

SpongeBong HempPants

Such a un-notable parody. Completely unsourced and purely original researched. Why is it in the article and it keeps getting pushed in. It has been deleted numerous times and cannot exist as an independent article (speedily deleted all the time). --Eqdoktor 20:09, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Do you think we should add...

to some part of the SpongeBob page that one of Steve's insperations for the show was the Seven deadly sins? By that I mean each character represents one of the Seven deadly sins. It was said in the 'Season one box-set, Disc one' on the audio commentary for 'Plankton!'.Or should we add that in the 'Seven deadly sins in popular culture' article? 68.35.1.173 22:35, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

DVD Releases

Hey, Does anyone think that we should put a DVD Releases section on the article? I know it already has a long "Merchandising" section, but this does not mention much about DVD Releases. Thanks Mrx9898 23:05, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

As of early 2007, (the last time I actually checked the number of seasons released on DVD.) I know exactly how many seasons there are, I know that season 1-4 is on DVD, and season 4 is in two packages. But I can't add the section though, since I don't know when they were released on DVD. TheBlazikenMaster 16:00, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

TheBlazikenMaster, the release dates are as follows:
Season 1:
Region 1: October 28, 2003
Region 2: November 7, 2005
Region 4: November 30, 2006
Season 2:
Region 1: October 19, 2004
Region 2: October 23, 2006
Region 4: November 30, 2006
Season 3:
Region 1: September 27, 2005
Region 2: Not yet released
Region 4: Not yet released
Season 4:
Region 1:
Part 1: September 12, 2006
Part 2: January 9, 2007
Region 2: Not yet released
Region 4: Not yet released
Season 5:
Region 1:
Part 1: September 4, 2007
Part 2: Release date not yet announced
If there's any trouble please let me know. Thanks, Mrx9898 00:52, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, since you know the release dates, don't be too afraid to add it. Soon I have to go to work (so there is no time now to make a big section), if nobody has added the section by the time I get back home, I will. TheBlazikenMaster 07:21, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

I've added in the DVD releaes. If anyone has any problems, please discuss here first. Thankyou, Mrx9898 03:22, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I do, it says each has twenty episodes, it's pretty misleading. I think we should number the DVD releases by actual episodes, not by release dates, since on DVD you can watch the episodes in any order. It doesn't necessary have to be two episodes at once on the release dates. (I own it on DVD, there is no other reason I'm watching this page, I used to be a fan on SpongeBob, for a short time.)
So please change it so the listed DVDs have number of episodes by actual episodes, not release dates. TheBlazikenMaster 14:15, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

The DVD Releases are not listed by release date, they are listed by the season which they are in (Season 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.). Mrx9898 02:13, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

That's not what I meant, they are indeed not listed, but they are numbered by release dates. For example, instead of counting: EpisodeZ/EpisodeY as one episode count it as two since you can pick the episodes on DVDs in any order.

Ohhh, ok. So instead of the number episodes in the season being 20, it would be somewhere in the 40's (seeing as sometimes there is more than 2 episodes in one whole episode.)? Mrx9898 21:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, that's what I mean. But the special episodes featuring the pirate still count as one. TheBlazikenMaster 21:44, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Oh ok, I've got season one and two on DVD so I'll take a look at them and correct it soon (same with season 3,4,5). Thanks for pointing this out, Mrx9898 22:55, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
