Clean up and citation request

• Kulick's book is not properly cited. The article does not explain how the fence harmed the builder. As the book is not availabel to all readers, I suggest more attention needs to be paid to explain the assertion, as well as a proper reference.--Matilda ^talk 17:40, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

      • The author has several pages on the subject. The extra rooftop visitors brought additional revenue into the neighborhood. When Mack built the fence, he thus contributed to the decline of the neighborhood, and also made people less willing and able to go to games; and with less revenue the team also went into decline, and eventually left the city, after the 1954 season. Merger proposal

I have serious doubts about the [[WP:NOTE|notability of Redneck Stonehenge. However, instead of going through any sort of deletion process, it would make much more sense to merge it into spite fence, seeing as the former is just a specific example of the latter. The spit fence article has several sub-sections which are merely examples of these fences, so I don't see why not. bahamut0013♠♣ 04:27, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

It's obviously a type of spite fence, albeit a funny one, and the uniqueness of it along with how little information there is indicates it could easily be Merged into this article, with a redirect from the other article to this one. Baseball Bugs ^{What's up, Doc?} 06:50, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Philadelphia

While other ballparks had short-lived spite fences, the one at Philadelphia lasted over 35 years and is typically specifically called a "spite fence" in books that discuss ballparks. The ones at West Side Park and Wrigley Field and Bennett Park only lasted a short while. Tall fences at many of the old ballparks (Fenway being the last survivor) definitely obstructed exterior views, but they also served the purpose of reducing home runs, or at least that was the theory. Shibe Park had an ample outfield and had no such need to curb homers. It was 100 percent for "spite". Baseball Bugs ^{What's up, Doc?} carrots 11:47, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Spite wall

I agree. I think that the Spite Wall material can be very easily merged into the spite fence. What's the procedure for making it happen?Smasongarrison (talk) 03:06, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
