Reference for spike edit

I'm new; please gently correct errors.

I just got to this page from a link in Journalism ethics and standards. It seems like a useful term, unless it has been superseded by another term referring to the same process. I agree there is a paucity of results upon googling; however, the recent reference [1] from the Times Literary Supplement seems quite notable.

This article (Spike) is a stub and needs editing, but that's normal, am I correct? What I wonder is whether it is really only used for articles of questionable veracity, or if it is also used for articles that are withheld for other reasons, such as political or advertiser pressure, etc.

Now how do I get these comment into the conversation without doing something as drastic as deleting the banner recommending deletion? I'm not clear as to whether this is a routine action, or something that might start a brawl ;). Thanks, Postpostmod (talk) 18:43, 19 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

After reading the banner again carefully, I decided I was invited to add the reference to the article and then delete the banner. So I did. If something is incorrect, please revert. Postpostmod (talk) 00:35, 20 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ideology edit

The article should also mention spiking as a way to downplay challenges to ideology. Uncle Ed (talk) 14:56, 24 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
